My god, there's no comparison. The Tritons a toy while the BT50 is a genuinely powerful ute that can match it with many of the far more expensive competition. If you're towing a box trailer the Triton with it's cheap price may be an option but if towing anything with a bit of size I'd recommend giving it a miss. By the way, I've had both.

I'm not quite that biased but have a Mazda and it works beautifully for me
Depends what you're towing and what your budget is. The BT50 has more power and torque and rated to tow up to 3500kg versus the Triton's 3000kgs but the comparative BT50 costs a lot more.

And the auto Triton is only rated to 2500Kg. IMHO the BT50 is better in all respects. ozjohn.
My apologies: According to the Mitsubishi website the latest model Triton 2.5 Diesel twin cabs now have the same towing capacity of 3000Kg for both the auto and manual. Cheers, OJ

Hehe I posted this earlier today in another thread in this forum -
------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yeah depending on your needs don't overlook the Mitsi Triton.
The Triton doesn't have the top end load rating of some of the vehicles you've looked at, but when I bought mine 12 months ago (Dual cab 4x4 Diesel Auto) it was the most "driveable" that I had tried. Some utes out there have the stat's of a small truck and (not offence meant) that's exactly what they feel like when you drive them, a Truck!
I'm not pulling the Quean Mary, but I have been very happy with the performance and fuel economy of the Triton (and no I don't have figures to back that up), and being an auto my wife has no issues sliding over and driving it as well.
I'm waving the Triton flag mainly because I think many people get caught up with "Got to have the biggest tug out there" syndrome.
Many people in this forum council people to look around, keep an open mind, and find what suits you and your budget best, and I would do the same. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a Triton manual and have no trouble towing a 20 ft van, also very comfy.
Fuel economy between 15.6 -16.4 lts/100 so far this trip, depends on wind and road conditions.
Happy with the Triton..
