Don't have the fridge so well stocked with alcohol - it's meant for food anyway. Or hide the good stuff and just put some cheap and nasties in there until he has gone. Brenda.
I,m with Brenda (except for it,s meant for food part) ,cut the stock down both in your fridge and what you take to there van, after a couple of time he might get the hint but nearly 3 months of travel I would doubt he,ll take the hint.
I just take one at a time when I visit and only have a couple in the fridge when they visit..
Then once I am out of beer I suggest it must be their shout and if they aren't forthcoming I just grab myself a glass of wine and sip it in front of them without offering them one..
Works for me..
Same as drinking at the bar I dont mind having first shout but unless they shout next I just order 1 beer..
They soon get the message..
Like you OP I'm not struggling to make ends meet but nor are any of my mates..
You don't need mates like that. There are many spongers in the world. They are often very pleasant and good with the complimentary phrases, but if they don't wish to recognise when it's their turn to shout, or they can't bring their own drinks, give them a miss. Charlie
Just don't offer a beer' inthe first place if he's that thirsty he will go and get one of his own, or it could be that you come accross as if you don't care because you have a few bob. Long time travelling with people who get at you for one reason or another.
