AGM batteries are a better choice than Gel.
The manufacturer will advise on the appropriate charge routine. If you can't find it, choose another brand.
How long they last depends on how you treat them. 5 to 10 years is typical if looked after.

We had gel batteries for about 4 years, found them not that good as house batteries and AGM much better. They are still being used on our workshop at home, function better with big power draws and recharges, but not for long term storage and small amp usage. Much better technologies around than L.A, to choose from.

IF you have replaced the batteries..

good luck with them..

I'm not sure of the demands that you have in your system or the charging[Solar] that you have..
- Camping style.. etc..

As Native Pepper has said there is much better tech out there.. but then you start to get into higher cost's..

I'm not going to go into what you could do here..

regarding the Tv.. did you go 12v/24v or a normal domestic unit..

some of the newer domestic unit's are extremely efficient..

I spent 3 day's in Adelaide using the TV/light both via an inverter[150w] and had no issues.. No charging for the Battery at that stage... 100Ah AGM....[Yes I have an AGM, I did not pay for it.. came with the bus]

Oh...the batteries I got are AGM. Not sure what the original batts were.

Depends on how you use them, used down to about 80%SOC properly, 5-8 years. From there the lower you drop your batteries before recharging, the shorter the life span.

Umm ?? I would say if they swollen ?? They are cactus.. I have 4 X 6v batteries I'll be replacing soon..
They look like cupcakes at present .. DONT hold charge..
Possibly replace with 2 X 12V.

AGM batteries will last up to 8 years if used correctly, they should never be drained below 50% of their nominal capacity. Doing this actually reduces their capacity. I have seen cases where AGM batteries were drained to 10% capacity daily and were ready to explode within 6 months. So the general rule is to work out your daily use in kWhr and then at least double that in battery capacity.
