Water Filters

I'm due to replace the drinking water filter in the motor home at $60 -$80 just for the filter.Just wondering what other Rv'ers are using for filtered drinking water.I have been considering a two stage filter under sink unit for Rvs to replace the single stage unit.So ,what do you use ,are they necessary or what changes have you made?Peter.Shy

Peter Bunnings now carry a good range of filters and filter bodies at fair prices. I got sick and tired of prices at marine and caravan suppliers.

Just fitted one to rainwater into house about $75 all up and filter was 0.5 micron activated charcoal (for about $22 replacement or so). See link below for general info, but the one I purchased is not shown here for some reason.

You can scroll down many pages of filters.

Hi Peter I would go the two cartridge way if I could. One with the small micron filter and the other the activated charcoal/silver type.

Most of the time it won't make a lot of difference because we normally get our water from a reputable source, Town water, Information centres Etc.

It comes into it's own when you can only get rainwater and maybe bore water. The filters will help protect against things like Giardia and other nasties.

I cannot change to a two filter system (Design constraints with my MH) I have to buy the all in one filter at $110 but it does the job.

One of those times when a little research helps.

I found a two filter system for the house at a rural irrigation place in Jimboomba Qld at $120 and the filters extra. I saw some in the Fishing/RV places at over two hundred so it pays to look around.

I have been using the B.E.S.T. single water filter since 2010 (on 3rd now) for just over $100. Use one fixed under sink and one in-line on filler hose. No problems yet.
