RE: Portable sat TV

Finally found time to have a go with the Sat kit from AA tonight.
Dish on tripod in back yard, used the AA list to setup the dish for azimuth, elevation and skew connected the satlink got a picture as soon as it turned on. Pressed the info button on the satlink just a small adjustment of the dish to get best signal on the meter.
I cant say if the satlink is the best way to go because I have never set up a sat dish before tonight but I would say that to be able to see a picture and confirm best signal strength standing at the dish without having to connect the vast box and tv must be the way to go.
Also the AA list of set up for azimuth, elevation and skew for all Australia must also get a very big tick.
Thought I my as well get the spare telly out and see if the rest of it worked.
After connecting up the vast box and tv I got the vast info pages but nothing else but an error code I think this was because I registered yesterday off-air, (the instructions are great for finding out what you have one wrong!!) Went on the Net with the error code, did a register reset then after 2 minutes got a load of channels all great picture. So alls good and ready to go.
Thanks to all who contributed to this topic. It saved me a lot of research and I think I have got the correct stuff because of the info posted.
Cheers
Moonraker

Great news, you will now get tv wherever you want it when you are on the road.

I had a another unit that did not work correctly after the digital change over and that only used the short co-ax to find the sig, it did not show a tv picture just a logo that said I had the right sat.

You will find that when someone see's you set up that quick they will want to know about the SatLink and maybe will ask you to setup their dish because they have trouble doing it, I have lost count of the dishes I have set up for other camper's.
