Apparently a height boom has been put in place at the entrance to the Parry Beach camping area according to someone who has just returned from there. They did not say what the height was but Motorhomes with roof top A/C's will not fit under it and also someone with a caravan wiped their A/C off while trying to get under it.
There is also a rumour that a local councillor who owns a caravan park in the district is trying to get RV's banned from Parry Beach and to only allow tents for camping there......a vested interest in this proposal it would appear according to my source.
hey maybe it is time to ban idiots like him , hell if they can try their dambest to ban us maybe e all should boycott thick heads like this who think they are gods answer to every camper .honestly it is really peeving me , i raise this angry tirade after trying to find a economical caravan prk in the sydney outskirts , biggest gods answer to children candidate wants $126 per night , to $169 ensuite down to $33 low season , go figure that out hey , whos getting ripped off ,

If I remember correctly, when we stayed at Parry's Beach campsite nearly 4 years ago there was a height restriction at the entrance to the camp marked by a height bar so, nothing new there.
Don't quote me on it but I think it is 9foot (2.7mtr)
Great spot with good facilities and, amazingly, from memory, it was only $5 a night..
Cheers
Jon

The info came from someone who goes there regularly Jon and have just got back, apparently this is a new one and has a dangle bit with a chain on it, they unlock it and raise it for the council rubbish trucks etc. $10 a night now. See site fees on this link;
Gary, I think there is an outside area you can still park in, see them at the caretakers house when you get there. Apparently the fish were really running there in March between beginning of March to 23rd March while my contact was there, fishing from the flat rocks.
Plenty of Salmon and Herring, and one bloke caught a 1.3 metre Dhufish off the rocks (no scales available for weight but close to a record he reckons). Also lots of Herring at Peaceful Bay, he caught his legal quota in half an hour he said.
Graeme, the councillor said to be opposing the RV's and CP owner is a she, not he.....not that it makes a difference.....

not it dosent !
that is i think even worse ,when being a councillor , maybe a conflict of interest , after all we are all taxpayers ,or rate payers , so she wants to make more bucks and make it harder for the average joe blow to enjoy a trip or holiday , i thought this was a free country , and i thought councillors should be a bit less negative and support the ratepayer ,taxpayer
theres only one word for them , its not rude and its GREEDY
basically its all there is too it , many are arguing this that etc re other camping arrangements it comes down to he or her who has the biggest say or voice and there lies one of the problems everyone heres such trumpet blowers
we sat and talked about the park at $126 or $169 p/night , add on teli tonight you could go on a cruise 5 nights away etc for less
go figure ,
greed greed greed ,
fair enough there is a problem with i see backpackers wizbang o/seas tourists ,but we need to address that one and not punish us fair dinkum travellers
,the other problem too is some of us out there , i think a minority, but the dunny roll theives , leave some for us we all have to wipe somehow , the soap dispenser theives , pumping it all into their bottles , if i caught one of them doing any of this you,d get a size 8 up your bum i assure ,so for those CUT IT OUT NOW !!!!!!!
Couldn't agree more Graeme, anyway it hasn't happened yet, so let's hope it doesn't.
I am going to send an email to the Shire President voicing my concern, but remember it is only hearsay at this time, so you can only refer to a rumour that is going around.
Here is a link for the Councillors, Parry Beach comes under Denmark Council.
This is the crux of an email I have just sent off the to Council President, be interesting to see what sort of a reply I get;
Dear Councillor,
I have heard a rumour that there is a proposal to close Parrys Beach to RV users (caravans/campervans etc) and to only allow tents.
It is also rumoured that this proposal is being put forward by a female Councillor who also owns a caravan park, so a vested interest would be involved if this was the case.
Is there any truth in this rumour and if so will submissions be taken prior to any decision on the matter from the travelling public?
I am a member of an RV forum of nearly 8,000 Australia wide members who are very interested in knowing if this is true and would also be interested in any proposal along those lines.
There are also sister RV forums with greater membership than ours who would be interested to know if this was being proposed also.
If you could let me know please I would appreciate it.

Hi Guys Try Penrith,,, about 200m from train into Sydney or Blue Mountains. We liked it in 2010. $38 per night powered site.

Someone else mentioned 2.7m Juergen, I am not sure what it is.
The gate apparently is an overhead boom on uprights on either side with a lower boom hanging from the top one by chains, I assume the height is painted on the boom somewhere.
I think that cutter could come in handy for some sex offenders, seems the right shape to give them a squeaky voice....
Please see attached comments from the Council at Denmark;
" Amazing what you hear on the rumour mill.
We do not have a female Councillor who owns a caravan park and to my knowledge the issue of prohibiting RV use at the
Parry beach park has never been raised. The current licence does nominate the number of campers and vans permitted.
However,Council does need to have a long term strategy in relation to its three parks,two currently leased for a further 10 plus years. Nothing has commenced in relation to a strategy and the long term upgrading plan of these assets, if required."
So it looks like concerns about the camp are unfounded.......
Thanks for your efforts in clarify this. Good to know. No problem with height restrictions for me
I just got a bit more info Cathy, apparently the reason for the height restriction is the overhanging trees and council will not allow them to be lopped as the area has been vested in the council to be kept in as original state as possible.
If anyone can confirm the height shown on the height boom please let us know (is it still 2.7 m or less ?).
Truth be told, I actually pinched the photo from Google pics, It said it was from Parrys and it looked like the place from my memory so I used it.
The pic I do have of Parry's from our travels is this one I am posting now. As you can see, we have a full size van but with no aircon so we fit in fine at the time. There were a couple of motor homes parked out front due to height problems.
BTW Vic41, Going by the date on your photo we were there just 7 months after you were in 2010.
