I've had a rippling problem on the old pop-top we used to own. Where the steel frame of the top was screwed onto the walls, there was obviously some movement because it first buckled then tore the plastic veneer on the walls. It only involved the thin veneer so I didn't worry too much about it. In hindsight, I could've run around the edge of the frame with a razor blade to isolate it from the wall veneer.
