I see these poison mushroom have a yellowish white cap and white underflesh, see;

When we were kids we were always told not to pick any mushrooms/toadstools with white flesh or pale brown flesh, only those with wide tops and dark brown flesh.

Tragic results for these people who ate them.

The news report I heard about the Death Cap Mushrooms, said that they were bought in Woolworths.  Don't remember if it was yesterday morning, or this morning.

Glad I don't like Mushrooms anyway.

Surely WW only buys mushrooms from commercial growers - so how on earth would these ones get in the mix? Were they loose or prepacked I wonder.

We had some mushrooms from Woolies last night, they were in a packet of 6 (foam tray and gladwrap), but the proper ones.

Someone said their is an Asian delicacy edible mushroom on the market that has white flesh but I have never seen them.

Thanks for that Pete, Woolworths are also doing their own investigation into the claims.

The link you provided said there was no evidence that the mushrooms were purchased from Woolies, but I think that has to be confirmed, even though those poisoned claimed they were.

Some of the poison varieties we have in Oz are similar to the edible varieties in Asia, and there have been a couple of cases in Oz where Asians have picked the Oz poisoned ones thinking they were edible.  

I would be very surprised if they came from Woolworths.   The ones we had last night from Woolies were delicious by the way.

It didn't give any details Vic.  It was one of those running things at the bottom of the screen when there was a news break.  Just said that there had been a fourth death from the Death Cap Mushroom.   Didn't even say what State.

I don't think anyone has died. All four have merely been poisoned AFAICT.

Two people in Canberra died from eating them in 2012, see;
