1521  - Sailor and explorer Magellan is killed by natives in the Philippines. 

1802  - Matthew Flinders climbs Arthur's Seat in Victoria. 

1810  - Beethoven composes the piano piece, 'Für Elise'. 

1937  - The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is completed.

1968  - The first Kentucky Fried Chicken in Australia opens. 

1971  - Relics from the wreck of The Batavia are recovered in Houtman Abrolhos, off the coast of Western Australia.

Anyone during their travels found an old fashioned milk bar with milk shakes in aluminium containers, hamburgers with pineapple, a juke box, pinball machine and a pile of bicycles dumped outside? Bugger KFC and McDs.

Gday...

Dunno 'bout the bikes Gary ... but this little cafe in Bombala on the Monaro Hwy south of Cooma pretty much meets ya requirements.

Each time I pass through Bombala, I stop in and enjoy their hospitality and the "older-style" tucker.

Ya dead right it definitely beats KFC or Maccas
