Hot water. How to set up?

Not sure on correct procedure.

For 240v I have,

Connected water, connected power, turned switch  to ON in the outside unit, turned pump to on, although it shows red light, no light if I turn it the other way, turn on 240v swith inside cupboard, turned on hot water tap at sink to make sure water coming through. Success. Hot Water.

For gas do I, turn switch in outside unit to OFF, turn on gas, leave pump ON, leave 240v switch ON or OFF inside cupboard?. Turn on water heater switch and wait for red reset light to go out.

What if we are free camping.(no power) Obviously using gas. What about that 240v switch in cupboard? Will the batts. run hot water?

collo.

G'day Collo

When you have -mains water you can leave the pump OFF
- have 240v switch ON
-240v is only for element when on mains power

When bush camping- pump ON, 240v OFF, inside switch (with red light) ON, light goes out when gas is alight and working. The batteries do supply ignition and control system.

hope that helps

Hi Collo,

just been taught this, so feel comfortable I will not mislead you. Our HWS has the following:

240V Element switch in the unit itself

240V Switch where the unit is plugged in (in a cupboard, low in ensuite).

HWS Switch in accessible cupboard above stove with a reset light beside it.

Over the weekend we would be running on batteries with 240V available from inverter, and we did not want to use 240V on the HWS, thus we turned this off by turning of the 240V element switch inside the HWS.

We did run on gas, to do this we open the valve on the top of the gas bottle (supplies gas to all appliances in the van), then turned on the HWS Switch.

My understanding is that the HWS is set up to use both 240V and Gas, if 240V is available, it will use 240V, otherwise it will use Gas if the gas is available (In that order).

I hope this helps.
