This Australian wide club has a WA Branch too as well as other states, it take all makes of RV's and no need to resign if you buy a different RV unlike some other clubs that will only allow members to have a specific make or type of RB, see;
This one below motorhome and campervan club does not have a branch in WA or NT, but I suppose it will eventually, looks like it is a reasonably new club, see;

we used to belong to a club in WA, the committee asked for suggestions every meeting and then put them in the rubbish bin, we did not stay in this club very long.

Some like the social aspect of clubs and make lifelong friends, however there are others on committees who are on power trips and longer term members that form cliques and only give lip service welcomes to new members. The women seem to enjoy the social side more than the blokes I think.
We tried a few but the only one we remained in long term was the A'van Club for 7 years (had to give up our membership of that when we sold our A'van, however knew they were the rules and you had to have an A'van camper trailer to belong to it) Note: There is one A'van club in NSW south coast that accepts all types of Avan's including motorhomes, see;
you hit the nail on the head Vic, however I cannot see any point in a caravan club restricting membership to one type of van, did you know that the Avan club encourages its members to salute each other when they meet? most of the members of that club are old and IMHO do not need to be treated like children

Vic,
That looks very similar to the army silent signal for "Mushroom" ( kept in the dark and fed on manure.)
Wombat, there are a number of clubs that do that, for example Jayco clubs, no Jayco, no membership, but there are others as well that only permit members with one specific type of van. That is why I think if you want to join a club then a generic club is best like the one I pointed out, many state clubs are also generic.
Many members of most RV clubs have mostly older members, except perhaps for camping trailer clubs and general camping/tenting clubs, off road Peterpan, the salute was used for both greeting and saying goodbye to members driving in and out, also along the road when passing if you had a passenger to do it, sort of a recognition signal. I was in the army but don't recall using that one, I did however have a poster hanger that said "I must be a mushroom because I am kept in the dark and fed nothing but bulls.h.i.t.e"
PS: Don't tell Wombat anything if you meet him and watch out if he has a camera, he's worse than Billeeeeeee....
A pic of Dougwe with Wombat at Greens, now is Wombat old or what? He is the old fart on the right side of the pic showing the Wombat salute
