Every Easter Jen and I stay at a Caravan Park not far (approx 350 is) from home. We've stayed at the same park for the last 7 years. When we leave we rebook for the next Easter. We arrived yesterday, go into the office, give our name and we get told that someone is in our site because they liked it so much they've decided to extend their stay. The park owners knew we were coming and I rang them 2 weeks ago to make sure booking was ok and they said it was and they looked forward to having us there. When I questioned them about why our site was given to someone else they said "oh it happens like that sometimes and just go and find another site and let us know which one you've picked"
My question is--- Would you tell them no thanks and go somewhere else or would you just let it go and just find another site?
If it was any other time other than Easter or Christmas, I would be moving on and letting them know in no uncertain terms that I would be publishing there unfriendly treatment on sites like NotGoodEnough etc. If staying, would wait till I was leaving to inform them, I would no longer be a customer and would be doing my best to turn other potential customers away.
Cheers
David
7 years is a long time Sol. If you love the place and find another site you are happy with I would just go with it and express my disappointment after 7 years of loyalty.
I remember many moons ago now in my tent days I was camped at the Walkerville Foreshore Reserve Caravan and Camping park, South Gippsland Victoria. I was given a map of sites I could not have and chose a nice one then let the office know which one I was set up on.
3 days later I came back from being out and about to find my tent had been moved to the site next door, not happy Jan. Turned out people who have had the site I was on had had that site for many years so the Manager just moved my tent and gear. He did apologise but didn't think I would mind, he said they waited for two hours but when I didn't return he just had to move me. Yeh.
I was very annoyed but liked the place so much decided to just let it go as no harm really done. I have been back a few times since.
Everyone is entitled to a second chance Sol so I reckon give them their second chance mate.

Tell them to shove it where it hurts & that you will be spreading the word both verbile & on the nett.
We had the same site for thirty odd yrs for two weeks at xmass, they kept moving the site boundries each year till I could no longer park the van in a suitable position without being diagonal on the site due to trees, then had to either pack the door side of van up by 300mm or dig the off side in by the same which I did. The tempory manager looked long & hard but said nothing.
They were so rude that when asked about the changes they just looked me straight in the eye & said that NO changes had been made & refused to discuss it any further.
So we havent been back since & dont miss it at all, there was no managment for yrs, nothing being done, over crowding & no control. This used to be a great park that went to the pack. As it was only half hour away ment that we could drive out to the beach & back home each day if we wished & was cheaper than staying there & putting up with all the crap.
These are the mongrels that are trying to stop us from freedom camping, why would we go back to a park, dictating hipacrits.

I think it's a bit rich particularly after you phoned to confirm the booking just two weeks ago. I hope the alternative site meets with your approval and that you have a nice stay regardless.
hi.I would tell them to shove it and tell them why .You also should name them as you have been let down . that is the height of rudeness. Just my thoughts. after going there for years.
enjoy
Stuff that for a joke! Sh*thouse customer service - regulars are the bread and butter of many businesses. As it's Easter, I'd stay, and tell them when you leave exactly what you thing.

I guess it depends on what is lost, if the chosen site stands out an really suits for some reason, then it is worth making a fuss about. BUT if there are ten identical sites in a row, and the move to another site is an inconvenience, then is it worth making a fuss about.
Think off it from the other side, you arrived at this park two weeks ago, the management gave you a site, you are all set up. When you arrived you were not sure how long you would stay, but indicated probably two weeks. You like the area, you have more you want to see, and decide to stay for another week or two. Wouldnt it be a pain if then the manager said, yes you can stay, but you will need to pack up and move two sites down the row!
We were given a choice when we wanted to stay here over Easter...move off a pre-booked site, and we could stay, otherwise, move on. This was said very nicely, and we were happy to move, and are still in the park a week later.
Methinks the staff at your park need a bit of training.
I agree with Gerty... its a management problem, and the staff need training.
I would have expected than, when the others wanted to stay on, the staff- who had your phone number- would have given you a quick ring to see if you minded being moved from your booked site. If you did not want to move, the other party should have been given the option to re-locate or move on.
In a calm moment, I would discuss this with the management. They have an option to fix the damage- i.e a discount on either this stay or your next one- or lose your business.
Simple.
Put calmly, and face to face, you might get a solution.
Several times in caravan parks I have been told that If I want to stay on I would have to move as the site had been booked.
Agree with Gerty training needed and they should have called to ask if you would mind taking a different site.
