vast sat box on 12v

Photo065.jpgI had a win today. I was going to put a 12v power supply in my vast sat box, cost about $100, but found you can run them on a 100watt inverter from sat world. Works well once you find the satellite, and at $28 delivered,I save $70 plus.I have found that people don't like you running the genset to run your sat tv.This way there is a lot less noise. Will try out in the bush when I go away next.   Bill

good work Bill

I do much the same with my vast box and the TV running off a 300W psw inverter as the TV does not like straight 12v.

The 300w does not put much load on the batteries either so mrs kft is happy

I to had a 240 Volt vast box that i also powered from a small 300 inverter and worked just as well of the inverter as it did when we were staying in caravan parks and had pluged in to power. I just sold the 240 Volt version on E-bay a couple of weeks ago and now have a 12 Volt version, change over costs worked out at about $40.00. So now i can run just about every thing from the house battery, excluding micro wave and air con.

I was going to modify my vast box to run on 12 volts as well but found it will run on my 120 watt inverter all night with hardly and problems for the battery. We use tha aux battery in the car to connect to the inverter while out in the sticks and of course when hooked up to 240 v then things are normal. Like you saved about $50 in the process.

Bought this inverter for $28 from ITECH world. Works great, and doesn't seem to affect the battery. The battery voltage stays the same. Bill

Also run my VAST off a 150w inverter. But unlike Frank my Palsonic TV is OK straight off 12v cig plug in the caravan.
