Hi not knowing your bus, it does sound a little bit expensive, it also depends on what the "etc" includes.

I am guessing the main materials would be about $500 to $600, thus leaving a fair bit for labour. But a lot depends on what equipment is being used, and what the "etc" includes. For example if it includes a 120Ah battery, then that makes it seem a lot more reasonable.

Here is a bit of a guide on costs

1x 200w panel = $215 delivered
1 x 30a controller regulator = $65.
2 x 100ah AGM gel batteries = $300
6 x mtrs 6b&s cable = $24
Assorted bits and pieces = $10

Thats a total of $614 for parts including batteries that I just installed on a Hiace Wizzbang I have for sale.

The job took me about 4hrs at my rate of work considering I am 75, a young agile person should do it in half that time if they know what they are doing..

Shop around. I am getting installed next Wednesday in Emerald, a another solar panel.
I have bought it off Ebay 140 watt for $170 dollars, a 20 watt regulator $20 just in case its needed. All being sent to the Emerald address of the installer. Not sure how much he is going to charge yet but shouldn't be more than $200.

Those batteries would have to be $300 each. I paid $350 for 105ah, Full River AGM Deep cycle, each.

thank you for your replies - I think we can install ourselves, - we have found complete kit from aussie batteries for just under $700

hi two panels $598.00 no battery - battery on separate quote - very expensive and have found cheaper. Add about $390 for battery - that is 100ah.

I lied they cost me $159 ea plus freight $33 ea that I had to organize ..

The Batteries are there for Added Weight..

they will be replaced in 2-3years anyway... they are only LA's

I was using 2 x 6DC 220Amp LifeLine batteries 2nd. hand from a fork lift. Using a Megapulse they lasted 2 yrs for $200. Going the same way again but with 4 x 300Amp batteries for a bank of 600Amps. Prefer 6 VDC batteries as heavier plates and more bottom room for gunk than 12VDC.

No matter what the Amp/hr rating of the whole battery combo, if they are LA's divide the figure by 2 and if second hand add a 10-20% discount off that figure...
- That should give you the usable AH..

For your possible new combo..
-- Have you taken the weight consideration of the whole lot...??
4 @ 41kg == 164kg's of added weight..

If I fit it, as I have done for lots of my gear, not only solar stuff, the buck stops with me cry cry If they blow off then I will have to mop up the mess too.

I guess if you are not confident with doing any job then pay someone. It may be cheaper in the long run. But generally it is not rocket science. Just stay away from the 240 volt stuff. confuse

In this day and age you should not pay more than $1.50 per watt for a panel delivered, and that is being generous. I have not paid that for quite a few years. Shop around on the net. Easy as-

Re the $1000 200w Panel I'll sell you 2 for that price and have a nice margin left over....

In general the cost of Solar panels is in the order of about $1.20 per watt at worst... so about $230 per 200w panel. where you paid $1000 I'd go back and ask for the change....

With regards to panels mounted on the roof of what ever... The Correct Mounts and tube or 2 or Silka of similar product will do the job..

I have mounted ALL of my solar panel with Silka and They are still up there... In fact I'm dreading the task of having to remove a panel...
