Mt Augustus WA

The road to Mt Augustus from Gasgoyne junction is gravel, has anybody been there recently? And which is the best route, as there seems to be a choice?

Thanks

All the roads in the area are gravel and most will be fine unless recent rain has caused damage.

Which is the best route from where???

Last time I was there several years ago, the road was hard dirt or limestone from memory, at least from the Meekathara end, the roads often get washed out and closed when they have lots of rain, best to check with the local authorities in town or ring Mt Augustus station.

Sorry, I meant the road from Gascoyne Junction. You can turn north from Dairy Creek?, or from Landor?.

We'll check with the local info people when we get to Carnarvon, wondered if anybody had been there just for a personal view. Thank you for the fantastic photo Peter.

We were there  Last  September.

Went in via  The Ashburton Downs Meekatharra Road from The Munjina Road Turnoff.  Then the  Pingandy Rd.      The road was in very good condition.

Then  came out on the  Landor, Mt Augustus Road. All were in very good condition.   We tow an Avan Cruiseliner with at the time a Mitsubishi Challenger.

A two wheel drive would have had no problems at that time.  But after rain it would be different as always on these dirt roads.

Beautiful country at that time of year. Got friends who are doing  NP  Camp Hosts job  there,    possibly  just now ?

Fuel is available at Mt Augustus Stn  CP.
