What is also noticeable is that whenever there is any criticism of the poor clearance rate of crime the presiding Qld Police Commissioner announces yet another police 'blitz' on motorists. What better way to convince the public that the police are doing their job?
I am wondering if that is the time-honoured routine in other jurisdictions. Because it has been a tradition in Qld as long as I can remember. It certainly goes back to the Joh Bjelke-Peterson days.
I have received one ticket anywhere and that was in Qld after Premier Anna Bligh overspent. I was nicked by a radar trap - a 60kph re-zoned to 40kph days before and I had not seen the new sign. Police had recommended the revised speed zone on the quiet road (no houses) because 'hoons' used it on the weekends. However the only motorists ticketed were ordinary folk who visited the picnic spot. The cop laughed as he handed me the ticket, after ascertaining that the wife and I had visitors and the picnic basket on board.
I find it tedious that some people have a need to denigrate our police forces. It is like they are a common enemy and are fair game for anyone who has a beef with them.
Generally, the criticism comes from people who fall foul of the law.
There is not a criminal behind bars that is guilty. Ask them. There is not a speeding ticket issued that was deserved. Read this forum.
It's also funny how these same people run to the police for assistance every time they feel they have been wronged.
Give it a rest, eh, and let them get on with their job.
My father despises the local constabulary 100 times more than the Gestapo commandant of the NAZI concentration camp that he and my mother were confined to as young children. When my mother visited the police station with tears in her eyes after suffering torment at the hands of a drug cultivating, drug abusing, wife bashing, alcoholic neighbour, she was laughed and sneered at. My own father was nearly killed by this pig in our own driveway, yet the police targeted my father rather than this violent scumbag. This same scumbag went on to torment his own wife, to the point where she committed suicide, or so we are told.
More recently I chased and apprehended an intruder who had been running from the police. The pigs were too lazy to give chase. No doubt their backsides were welded to the seats in their patrol car. BTW, the guy was about 20 years old and the police were around 30 years old or less. I'm three times the intruder's age, and I was chasing him in my slippers (which I had to jettison because they were slowing me down).

Gidday John, GEEEZ MATE ?? I look forward to your Humorous postings, -- But now I feel robbed Because of part of the 2% --any chance of you PM'ing me the Pic ?? Thanks Daz.
John I had a chuckle at your pic, AND YOUR RIGHT TO POST IT.
It seems we are going down a path of intolerance in Oz,,, if not correct in EVERYONE'S opinion its OUT THE DOOR and the "perpetrator" is not to be tolerated.
Some people should not continue to frequent public forums if they are so intolerant (but they have the right to have their say).
It's the Aussie way to be allowed to have your say about anything,,,,, and turn what may drive us nuts at times into something less serious, even funny.
In an ironic twist, your pic is in fact factual in many cases (not all),,, and if you know police (I worked with many years ago) and have friends/family in the force, they will agree with your pic. Many police would dearly like to be able to spend more time following up serious crime, including the sexual abuse/serious neglect of children,,, but often they are chasing relatively minor offenders to the detriment of pro active policing of more serious issues.
My 2 cents worth again,, I haven't spent that much for ages.
