I am travelling around Aussie in a 4X4 motor home...Has anyone any suggestions for insuring personal effects cash etc in the motor home? The insurance companies I have contacted don't want to know about it...
If you are a member of CMCA you can arrange insurance for your MH through Ken Tame, that insurance would be hard to beat for a MH, I think you have a contents insurance of $2000 and you can increase it for extra premium, membership with CMCA costs you $40 a year.
Cheers
David
Have a look @ CIL Insurance. They specialise in caravans. One thing that they do offer is if your van is damaged and cannot be towed , it will be fixed and returned to your home address even though you may be many KM's away from home.
We had our caravan insurance through SGIC . We d an accident a wrote it off, that was a Wednesday we contacted them on Thursday ( with photos) Friday they phoned and said they would pay us full insurance. Contents though over a $100 , they want proof photos / receipts . Contents you put what amount you need on , no one does cash. Hope this helps. Don Diane

Thanks for responses, the MH has full comprehensive cover by NRMA but no one wants to know about contents/personal effects IE cameras, laptops, media players GPS etc etc.
I will just have to make sure I keep everything out of sight and locked away... This is a great Country we have so HUGE we are enjoying our first trip.....
We have been insured with CIL, since owning a motor home. CIL specialise in caravan and motor home insurance. Over the eighteen years we owned caravans we insured with NRMA.
We had a quote from all the major insurers and CIL were 30% cheaper than the next best.
