The last 3 weeks were packed with new adventures. My rental contract ran out and I saw the chance to make a significant life stile change. .
Didn't think long about the consequences......... . Now I am here at a nice caravan park in my Avan Aliner which has to do the job for another
18 months until I go further with my motorhome building. Fridge is already done and safely stored at a mates place. . The Avan was the cheapest australia wide and after replacing the seals for a few bucks it's doing a good job. No water is coming in and even with the temperatures we have at the moment here in Redcliffe it's nice to sleep in. This thing will save me heaps of money. Roundabout 60 % of the rent I've paid before.
It will take me a few weeks to get rid of more unused unwanted bits and pieces. Fair bit a difference if you were living in an 120sqm appartment and now you have to get everything organised in 8 sqm. )) So messing around is not gonna happen any longer.
So, the first few months are done. Very happy with my decision.
As I have around 6.5 years of working live in front of me I am thinking about the next step. As nice and handy the little A'van Aliner is, on the longer run it is too small anyway. The last few weeks were pretty interesting. My car broke down and I already had a place to stay and could use public transport to get to my workplace. Something, I would not have if I would live in a MH. No big drama if I would be on my final big never ending loop but with the challenge to go to work it is a different story.
Keep a long story short. The guy at drbfloats made me an offer for a caravan/shell on chassis with door and 2 windows (very good quality stuff) included for 18k. The look is a bit old fashioned but would do the job.
The other guys I'm just in touch with are http://zonerv.com.au/ Fancy , but a bit more expensive. Same here. Get the shell on a chassis and do the fit out on my own. Can easy be done while I'm roaming around because at the moment I have a place to sleep.......and that's pretty much it. . So I won't miss anything. I'll go to their place in the next 2-3 weeks to have a look at the workshop (the way the workshop looks tells you a lot about the quality you can expect) and get further information.
Is here anyone having a Zone RV ?
Keep you updated.
Regards, Berni

We just bought one of THESE from ConXion Bus Co (The ebay seller) on the Gold Coast, they have more coming up all the time..
We are very happy with it's condition and the way it has been maintained..
We have pulled all the seats out and fitted an aluminum double bed frame across the rear ready for a full size double mattress..
next week will see a powder coated fabricated aluminum shower/toilet installed..
once I have it in working condition I will take it and have an engineer issue a certificate converting it to a motorhome and at the same time bringing the GVM back to 4495kg so it can be legally driven on a car licence..
I mention this just in case doing the same may interest you Bernie...
Have been at ZoneRV in Coolum Beach today and it was impressing.
I am 99% sure that I'll go with these guys. A few open questions to be answered....... . Seems that this is the place to go if you want to do the DIY thingy.
