I seem to not be getting the "email notification" advice when a post I have clicked "email me whenever there is a new post to this topic" when either creating a post or responding to a post.
Similarly, since noticing this this morning, I have now clicked "Subscribe" to topics I want "email notification" to but I still do not get an email advice when I can see there has been a reply/response.
Is anyone else suffering this problem?
Cheers - John

If you are using a microsoft based email account, this may be the problem as its popping up on a number of forums and blogs. If not then you may need to look at your mail client and see is that's stopped accepting them for some reason.
"MICROSOFT BLOCKING EVDL MAIL UPDATE: As of 27 March, it appears that our email may be reaching some or all Microsoft mail service subscribers. I have re-enabled mail delivery for everyone whose account was automatically suspended by the server because of bounced mail. Keep your fingers crossed that MS won't put us on their internal blacklist again!
ORIGINAL: Are you using one of Microsoft's webmail systems? Haven't seen any EVDL messages in a while?
There's a reason for that. Their spam blocker has gone rogue. As of March 2014, all of the Microsoft webmail services (outlook.com, live.com, hotmail.com, and msn.com) are blocking our email. This is a system-wide block, not affected by any of your personal email settings.
Why? We're not on any public spam blacklists. We're clean according to mxtoolbox.com and multirbl.valli.org. So why won't MS let our mail through?
You tell me. MS sure won't. They haven't even acknowledged my emails. Maybe they're blocking them too.
If you're an EVDLer using one of these webmail services, you might be able to get them to listen - especially if you're using one of their paid institutional services. I suggest that you
Contact outlook.com, live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com.
Tell them that our server is sending mail that you signed up for and want to receive, but are not receiving.
Ask them to whitelist our server's address (IP 69.163.254.* and/or diego.dreamhost.com).
Or just unsubscribe your outlook.com, live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com address, and instead use an email service with more rational spam blocking. Gmail and Yahoo have proven reliable.
My apologies for the inconvenience. (I think MS should apologize too.)"

I don't have any problem with email notification re new posts to subscribed threads on other forums I belong to.
However have always found email notification of new posts on Grey Nomads quite haphazard, sometimes they come through as soon as a post appears, other times the email arrives quite a while after the post has been made and once in a while nothing arrives, ever.

Contact outlook.com, live.com, hotmail.com, or msn.com. (I am not using any of these - I am on bigpond.com. I am also not an EVDLer (heaven forbid) so does that also make a difference?) ~~~
Gday...
Thanks native pepper - but, as I am a bigpond.com email I assume that is not my (GN Forum) problem?

This seems to be the same problem for me ... it only stopped yesterday.

If big pond email is a microsoft server, it could still be the problem, if not then don't know. Check your mail client and get it to probe the site to see if it gets a response, then trouble shoot it from there, that's if you can do that in windows.

Thanks NP ... but can you say all that in English
I have no idea what you are saying.

All I know is I am getting emails, just not notifications from this site, which tells me that it is not my issue, but one of the site. As I am not the only one, it sort of confirms it. Perhaps Cindy will look into it after the weekend.

G'day John, seems you're not using a mail client, so it's not relevant to you. A mail client is a package/program/app which collects your emails from your different email accounts and presents them to you when you log in, or when they arrive at your in box, without you going to your email addresses. Some have the ability to send email probes as proxies so they can see if that email address is being accepted or denied access to the account. They can also have the ability to control white and black listings, along with blocking sites and iP addresses. In non proprietary systems this is a common standard feature and would expect it to be available in a Microsoft mail client. But haven't used windows based mail for many years, so can't help with that.
It may just be this site, sure Cindy will work it out if it is and let everyone know.
Hi all, Apologies for the delay with this. I've been in contact with our forum hosts to let them know that this still isn't working properly. I haven't heard back from them as yet ... hopefully they are working on a fix.

Thanks Cindy, not a big deal, just a matter of checking for new post now and again.
