We want to go to Canberra for 3 or 4 days after Easter and I was after some

Information on Free camp or C/P spots in or around Canberra and the only one I know of is Cotter Dam

and we haven't Been down that way for ages, and Im led to believe its about $12 / per head.

Thanks in anticipation  biggrinbiggrin

Hi Brian
We spent a few days in Canberra last year during Floriade and stayed at EPIC showgrounds, bus at the gate into town if required.
Good amenities and sites, reasonably priced.

Yes the Cotter is very nice, busy in school hols though.
Not much free-camping around Canberra, although we often saw small campervans parked beside the lake near Tuggeranong.

Brian,

A few places to consider :-

a) Murrumbateman show ground. Approx 1/2 hr drive out of  Canberra on Barton Highway between Yass and Canberra. Public toilets, power but I don't think any showers. Not sure of fees. Pub, shop, take away cafe and servo across road. You can come through Yass if travelling from Melbourne or Sydney end.

b) About 7k Canberra side of the above there is a large sealed pull in on both sides of highway. Often see RVs there over night or a few days. No facilities. It's in the Camps book but don't know number.

c) Further down highway at the ACT border there is another large sealed pull in just outside a village called Hall. No facilities except picnic huts. Often see RVs there overnight also - 15 mins to Canberra.

Good luck.

Im a ex resident of Burra NSW just outside Queanbeyan. There is a spot on the Monaro highway I often have seen rigs camped. Toilets there and off the highway, right hand side heading to Cooma. Somewhere past Michelago, can't remember how far down now. I believe Queanbeyan showgrounds are also available for camping. All the parks will be busy at Easter and none of them are cheap. I don't know if you can camp at the Burra Park. There are toilets there and water, don't see why you couldn't. Call the Palarang Council and ask perhaps. They look after it now. All been re zoned since my day. The closest shops are in Queanbeyan. 30 min drive, 12 min to the vet though if your dog has been bitten by a snake from memory......
Happy camping.

We were in Canberra a few weeks back and (EPIC) the showground was very poor condition and we went out to Eagle Hawk where there are two caravan parks both ok they are located on the Sydney side of Canberra and the price was about the same as EPIC but the parks were much better, there is virtually no free camps around Canberra and the Caravan park on the highway south of Canberra was also fairly poor. but Canberra is certainly worth a visit so much to see and do.

Enjoy your trip
