It does not bypass Raymond Terrace.

It goes north west, bypassing Maitland, making it a good run from Sydney to the New England Hwy at Branxton.

Raymond Terrace and the Pacific Hwy are not involved.

BTW going for a quick drive up it this afternood for a sticky beek.

Did a quick spin up the new road to the junction with the Golden Highway..... cuts 30 minutes off !

Beautiful road, dual lanes, no major hill or tight bends as you would expect.

Lovely rest area part way along will make a good overnighter !

I forgot that it opened yesterday (Saturday 22nd) Rosie, or I would have gone for a drive myself. Might check it out during the week though.

Speaking of Newcastle freeway.....anyone been southbound from the Newcastle end on the M1 lately???  Did it a few weeks ago and ended substantially cursing the road conditions with those god-awfull repairs that have been done to the southbound travel lane. Fairly shook up our new van and tipped that stupid pull-out pantry virtually upside down.. And No ....tyres were not rock hard and doing 80-90 kmh. I suppose if we are to have third world roads then third world repairs are done to them...pretty silly really.

Cheers  Keith
