Campground near Cairns

We are travelling to Cairns from Brisbane in a couple of months and would like a couple of recommendations of caravan parks. My son who is in Cairns for 12 months said that he had heard that Palm Cove is a nice place to stay.

If you don't mind a easy 40km drive to Cairns city centre the Fishery Falls Holiday Park behind the Fishery Falls Pub is a beautiful,quiet,tropical paradise with a pool, pristine ammenities and well kept grounds with a cool clear creek at the end. Also great walk up to the Falls and the owners are friendly, hospitable people. We stayed there for 11 months in 2010 and met heaps of people who are now long lasting friends.

They have great Friday Happy Hours in the Tourist season and there rates back then were very reasonable compared to closer parks. If we ever travel back up NQ we will be definitely staying there.
