I would be off to the suppliers. Jaycar, Dick Smith any of the people who sell them and check out any "Deals" I do know that JB Hi Fi have an online section that sell factory refurbished items TV's Cameras,Etc. I was on their site a few weeks ago and they had some GME CB radios. Factory seconds or refurbished. I doubt they will still be on there but worth a check.
I have an all in one printer, fax, copier, scanner. Wireless and multi card reader. Basically all the bells and whistles. Whatever I do some of the nozzles are blocked. Needs looking at and new inks. A set of inks $130 for the six.
A brand new printer/copier /scanner from Woolworths, Coles, Hervey Norman and others. Around $40 to $80.
No contest throw the old one out and buy the new one.
Not exactly Green but the cost to fix would be way more than a new printer.
Hold on just a min........B4 you spend any more money, why not give uniden a call and talk to one of there service teck and see what they say. I had a two gme 40 channel radios that were given to me as they had failed, ended up giving gme a ring and then posted both units to them for repair.
One needed an new mic and the PA ic replaced and the other needed just the pa ic replaced and is a common problem when the antenna coax gets a short on the cable and causes the pa ic to fail.
The final bill for both units, repaired and mailed back to me worked out to be $120.00 for BOTH units, so a lot cheaper than replacing 2 X radio's. Yes i know I'm talking about gme radio's and you have a faulty uniden one, but talking to the manufacture first may be cheaper rather than blowing several $100's on new equipment

I might do just that as this radio does all I want of it.
Your problem with bubble jet printers, with the ink heads blocking up, is a common fault. I had two bubble jet printers fail with blocked heads and yes, you are right, it's cheaper to purches a new printer rather than get the old one fixed. But for me i solved the problem and purchesed all in one laser printer. At leased when i go to use the new printer, I know that it will work and not have the same old problem with blocked print heads, due to the lack of use.
My old printer had only gone through 1.5 reams of paper B4 it had failed with blocked heads.
They reckon $80-100. I will drop it into them, as we go up that way fairly regularly.
I also think I might have found why it "karked it"
There was an Extension lead for the Microphone that came with the unit, (I bought the radio off fella I know in the Club a while back) One plug on this extension lead was not a professional looking job and always looked very tatty. So I thought I would take the opportunity to refurbish it.
On peeling the insulation tape off. Two wires were off their soldered pins White and Yellow. Wonder if this caused the radio to blow the fuse.

Just in case there is nothing wrong with the radio and the fault turns out to be in one of your leads that you have forgoten to give them.

They would bring in the amplifier only, and of course after several days of testing, no fault could be found, We would then ask for all of the speakers and wiring. Nine times out of ten the fault would be in one of the speakers or the wiring had been at fault.
So when you do go and see Uniden show them every thing that you have, and let them check it all out for you.

Actually thinking back there have been times when I have blamed "other" people for not answering their radios when I called them. Happened a bit just recently on a trip with other people. Thats the cause.
One of the best tools we have to check if an electronics box is OK or not is our nose.... If you can get your face near the unit take a sniff, if it smells burnt or like its been very hot (distinctive smell) then its time for ebay. If all smells normal you can get a unit cheaper than the callout fee. Sounds crazy but it works. When I was testing airforce avionics components the first thing we did was a visual and sensory inspection, anything that looked burnt, or had that "dirty brown" smell was easy to see and replace. Then we had to work out why it got fried, thats the hard part. BTW thanks to all those who sent get well cards and wishes during my recent total knee replacement.
