Another town becomes RV friendly

Fantastic spot Kapunda, a lot go through it without stopping on the way to Burra.

We have stayed there at the CP on top of the hill a couple of times and the town is very friendly and welcoming.

As an aside, my great grandparents on my mothers side grew up in the area and were married there at Kapunda (Kilpatrick/Perry).

Another little village just out of Mt Gambier is Tarpeena. Free camping at footy ground, water and even some power. We were offered power bu one of the locals but didnt need it.
They are also about to put in power for 20 vans at a cost of $10 per night, or camp without for free. Not much in the town itself, but only 20 mins to all the other attractions in the area.
We stayed 3 nights and were made very welcome. One of the attractions in the town that was only open on sudays, even opened up for us on thur so we could have a look. Just for us as we would not be there sunday.
There are RV friendly towns around, you just have to look.

Well done to those who are getting proactive, they will still be there in the long run.

All caravanners are little more than parasites? Obviously intelligence is not a prerequisite for becoming an Auburn councillor.

They are only councillor's because they do not like work, IMHO

There is a small town south of Perth that has large signs saying RV friendly, BUT you stay at the dam in their local shire and it's a no no, their reason is their insurance company will not pay our if a RV is hit by a falling tree or tree limb at night, now this area is a picnic area during the day, so tree's in this shire do not drop limb's during the day so that make's it safe to have a picnic there but not camp overnight, bloody councillor's.

End of rant, I'm going back down my hole. biggrin

Good to see another SA town become RV friendly. It's a pity other towns aren't willing to pursue this. I've been told that the Auburn (at the southern entrance to the Clair Valley in SA) council believe that caravanners are little more than parasites contributing little if anything to the community while using up all the community resources and they are about to reduce funding for a great little caravan park.

The whole of the Clare Valley including Auburn has gone backward dramatically in the past 20 years.

Nice area to visit on the way through but don't expect much in the way of service and facilities, cellar door sales are pretty much a thing of the past, now cheaper to buy their products from a supermarket than the winery.

The Clare area used to be a destination, now its pretty much a lunch stop on the way through.
