yes me too - not sure what a wavewalk is.

Just go for a normal SOT they are much lighter and easier to load onto a car roof or ute. I love my 3m SOT.

Looks interesting but at 60lbs (27.2Kg) is a bit heavy.  My fisherman is 29 Kg & requires a good technique to load it onto the roof of the Patrol without a specialist loading device.  The twin hulls might make it even more difficult to handle.  My Javelin at 19 Kg is more like it.  Those with fiberglass & composite fiber might think anything over 15kg is too heavy.  I consider 24Kg the max weight for ease of handling.

 

They make a raft of claims that worry me  ..

Like ...  the only Kayak that you can stand up on.  Even a 70+  oldie like me can stand up & cast on my Fisherman.

And like ... the easiest to fit a motor to ..  I just screw an electric motor onto the purpose built transom of mine  & there are lots of others about that you just click the motor unit into the receiver built into the hull.  

 

I can & often do take two kayaks on the roof of the Patrol.  Not possible with this one I suspect.  Haven't seen too many trolleys that will take twin hulls, but I suppose that they are about at a price.  You will need one with a kayak of this weight & shape.

And on & on it goes  ..  I am always a bit suspicious of a product where they make a raft of claims that are over the top.

 

 

Having said that, I would like to try one out ... incuding in adverse conditions .. tide, wind, chop etc..  The seating position looks to be rather high out of the water as well .. a bit of a worry.

 

Might be OK for mucking about on with the kids, but might be up against it as a serious kayak.

 

I'll do some more research including an inquiry on a couple of USA kayaking sites before I form an opinion.

Would never buy one without first trying it in the water & compare it with a couple of the vast range of yaks available these days.

Quite a few of the posters were, like me, concerned about some  of the best claims of the obvious slick marketing claims from this mob.  Is it available in Aus?  Like one poster, I certainly would much rather spend a few hundred extra dollars & go for a mirage drive Hobie.

The soft hull worries me too.  

Edit 2 ..  From Blue Edge sports Web Site.   It seems that despite having no assocation with the US manufacturer, Blue Edge seems to have purchased the previous ('dismissed') AU distributor's stock in 2012.  ie this is 2012 stock with no manufacturer's back up.  The manufacturer ships to AU ports & it is the purchaser's responsibility to pay GST & clear customs.
