after 10yrs in WA and having done most of the coast from Esperance to Broome it doesn't seem to matter when you are there its always windy- worst are from the south west unless you are above the Pilbara when they can also come in from the north/east but that's usually late in the season (Oct onwards) so IMHO it would be better to go clockwise. Struck the worst wind ever in Nov travelling south from Karratha to Exmouth - a 40 degree day, the pedal flat to the floor and doing 60 k's/hr and losing speed, air con gave up, luckily only had about 30k's to go so pushed on - always said I'd never tow in strong wind lol.

You may strike wind on the Nullabor but that's probably only going to take a few days in comparison to the time spent travelling up the west coast -  so that's when I'd like the wind at my back. Having said all that May is probably one of the least windy months anywhere on the south coast of Oz.

however it has improved lately to nearly 3.6 klms per lit.

You do get used to the wind,  every afternoon, wherever you are in the south, the DOCTOR arrives, sometimes it is the Albany doctor, sometimes it is the Fremantle Doctor,  It seems there is one everywhere.  Grateful, however, cos it does cool everything down. Today got to 43 degrees in New Norcia, but by 7.30 pm, the doctor arrived, cooling it down to 25.
