Good campsite at Towong Crossing over the Murray, just north of Corryong.

With the right gear and permits might even get a fish.

No toilets or showers when we were there 10 years ago.

Have fun Haji-Baba

Hi, as mentioned there is a good camp site at Towong, right on the river with a toilet of sorts, although I wouldn't choose to use it. There used to be a camping spot on the Nariel Creek just outside of Corryong and if you wanted to drive a bit further through Khancoban and about 30 ks along the Alpine Way to Geehi, that's a beaut spot too, right on the water. There's the Corryong Cemetary with the grave of Jack Riley, said to be The Man From Snowy River, and heaps of lovely drives out from Corryong. Also, if you're over Jingellic Way, there's good camping at the back of the hotel (you can use their facilities for a small fee) right on the river. I suggest that you give the Corryong Tourist Information Centre a ring on 02 6076 2277 and they'd be able to point you in the right direction. Clarke's Reserve is a little bit past Tintaldra and there's lovely camping spots in there, right on the river and a cold one at the Tintaldra Pub never goes astray either. Hope you have a good trip, enjoy.... Annie

Thanks so much for that advice unfortunately we don't have as much time as we would like, looking after twin grandies this

year so just want to drive there and enjoy about nine days around that area instead of moving around too much. Do you know if the road to Corryong is a good one or steep and winding

Hi again, the road does have it's steep bits and in places it is winding , but heaps of travellers tow their caravans from Albury to Corryong, so it is most certainly isn't that daunting. Thought I'd mention the Colac Colac (pronounced Clack Clack) caravan park as although it isn't free camping, it's only a few minutes drive out of Corryong on the Albury Side and it's a great park - loads of space and grassy sites with plenty of shade trees. It's also on the creek which is an added bonus. Best wishes, Annie

The campsite at Nariel Creek is great - lots of big trees for shade, lovely flowing creek, drop toilets. We were there for 4 days over the New Years Eve period for the folk festival and had a great time - can't wait to go back - lovely area.
From memory I think it's $5 per person a night with an honesty box - don't quote me though as things may be different outside of Festival time.
