Can you pop into the Crusader stand and get back to us on your thoughts.
We currently have a 22' Supreme and will be looking at buying a new van later this year for delivery early next year. Wouldn't buy a Supreme cause they have a shocking attitude to after sales service and advice.
We like the large shed at the back of the Crusader for the generator, freezer, sat dish, etc.
We have a Traveller, made in SA ours is perfect has everything we need in van like separate shower, toilet, queen bed, full oven, microwave and full fridge freezer. It also has solar fitted at build which means integrity of roof etc is good. Other things we considered was the slope of the front for wind resistance and external storage. The traveller has a long slope at the front. For storage it has a through compartment that goes side to side across total van at front. Having the storage under the front (bed) means it doesnt take away storage from inside the van. We think internal storage is of greater importance than external so the ones with generator holes, external bbq, external tv's were a no go. The front also has two gas bottles external. We travel pretty much on road so didn't bother with the way more expensive off roader (also cant imagine taking our permanent home of $70000 into 4wd track). The finish on the van is great. cupboards with leadlight glass doors, led lighting etc. sorry for the long winded answer but its a big call buying a van and we are on our second after only 1 year on road. First one only suited us for 3 months.

Check out the Retreat Vans... Say hi to Justin for me.
Unfortunately Retreat won't be there this year. Shame, as they're a great product. Ozjohn.
Ozjohn, according the the Retreat Caravans Facebook page they will be at the show. Have you heard differently?
I could very well be wrong, but I do know that they gave up their premium site on the main drag to Roma. I'll get back to you. OJ
Just Spoke to Steve Borg and have been informed that they're back to their original site (Old Scenic Caravans Site) east of the main grandstand. That's good news. Ozjohn.

Great. I plan to pay them a visit to get hold of the DVD of the Gibb River trip.
MollyW, this would be worthwhile taking a look at as it shows the van in action under extreme conditions (more extreme than I will ever be taking my Retreat into - but is is good to know they are built to take whatever I throw at it)
I would retreat from some of the places they went on that DVD. I still favour a pop top van,any reason why i shouldn't?
My two bobs worth... I like the better sound, dust, weather, insulation of the hard top. I have had pop tops of various types over the past few years and now I have the hardtop I will never Retreat back to the pop top. Having said that though, I am certainly using more fuel now I have the hardtop... extra weight and wind resistance has led to this.
