Bombala , and the platapussies.

Left the lower Snowy R. at Marlo for thehigh country, and stopped for lunch at Bombala. Noticed that there was a platypus Sanctuary 4 klms down the Delegate road , so went for a look. Lo,and behold , there was two mooching thru the weed beds on the other side of the pool. Now tell me , what is the plural of platypus? Platypii or Platypussies?Or something else .Strangely enough, I have seen them in NQ at Eungela, and at Running river, the other side ofMt Spec, nth of Townsville.Lovely, unique animals.Off to Cooma, and eventually, toAnglers reach on the Eucambine.Bill

Bombala brings back memories. Had a few beers in a pub there with a bunch of rough looking timber workers. One patron was a local teacher with a wild mop of red hair who said he keeps his students in line by head butting them hehe. I graduated from beers to wine after a while but had to order it by the schooner glass in case they thought I was a wuss. I also stayed overnight. When I asked the publican what time breakfast was served he said, "Kitchen's open. Make your own." Then I went to my room overlooking the main street, pulled the curtain down and it fell the rest of the way to the floor.
