Gday...

1904  -     Children's author, Dr Seuss, is born.

1802  -     Matthew Flinders names Kangaroo island in South Australia for the fresh food it provides his crew.

1860  -     Stuart departs Chambers Creek on the first of his expeditions to cross from the south to the northern coast.

1959  -     Stage One of the building of the Sydney Opera House commences.

1971  -     Leadbeater's Possum is proclaimed the official animal emblem of Victoria, Australia.

1969  -     Supersonic airliner, the Concorde, makes its test flight.

Cheers - John

Here's a pic I took in the early '60s with my little Ricoh 35mm rangefinder. If only I'd realized how significant the construction of the Opera House was, I would have taken many more pics. But it was film, and I suppose I was conscious of the cost of development - something you don't have to consider with digital these days.
