Yep, they said the other night that this Winter ( when it comes ) will be a lot warmer and drier,
"Strike me" it wouldn't want to be any drier than what it has been for the last three months, or the only water that will be around will be that processed Sea and sewerage water they are mixing with our tap water now.

It was warm, but not that warm. For us Kiwis, it was bloody hot. I suggest that you put the gauge in the shade and make sure there is an airflow around it, or replace the batteries. The lettuce and cabbage seedlings in my garden didn't wilt so really wasn't really hot

Reckon you could be right about sticking the gauge in the shade,
It's sitting under the eves at the front of the house, facing in an Westerly direction,
Normally in the shade. but as the sun is getting lower late in the afternoon,
it's now starting to hit the gauge directly.
I think the battery could be getting past it's, use-by-date as the temp had dropped down to a more
respectable 39,5 deg around 10min later.
You're darn lucky to have any seedlings growing at all, should see my garden,
everything's got it's feet in the air.
cheers kiwijim

From Coast to Coast, We'll see it all.......One Day
First day of Autumn in SA (and the rest of Oz) been a very mild summer, few hot days but generally no big deal, although the media would have us believe that the end is neigh.
The main downside this summer has been wind, seems to have been constant, very few balmy evenings when you could enjoy a beer out in the garden.
We had a decent rain here about a week ago, some area's up to 70mm, farmers here are preparing for seeding already, that is cultivating after the rain.
A bit of rain would be most welcome for everyone including the farmers.......
Still a bit early for rain for farmers. Dry summer means no summer weeds and good quality stock feed in the paddocks. I will put in for soaking rains around 1st May, nothing until then.
