If you want to buy a bottle only to be used on the BabyQ then a 4kg would last for many many meals as it is just so economical.
The problem (maybe) with this is that generally a 4kg is much dearer per kg to fill than a 9kg. At our local BCF a 9kg is $19.90 for a fill and a 4kg is around $16.

I am new to this forum and had a question for Weber Q owners. I am particularly interested in making good pizzas similar to taste of wood fire oven pizzas. I was looking at getting a Companion Pizza Oven, see link here: www.freerangesupplies.com.au/portable-pizza-oven
This oven apparentely cooks them at high temperature and fits either 2 pizzas side by side or one big pizza. I have credit card points I can allocate to one of this ovens which is good. However when looking at the credit card points I noticed the weber q's.
We already have a 3 or 4 burner bbq so I had thought no use getting the weber q maybe just buy the companion pizza oven. however ive heard a lot of good reviews on the weber q and people raving abt them and the husband has always wanted a weber q and thinks we get rid of the normal bbq. As well as the current bbq we have, we also have a gas oven in our kitchen at home. Can anyone tell me will the weber q cook any better than a normal inside gas oven and a normal 4 burner bbq? just wondering is it going to be worth it if we have other forms to cook on. Also does anyone have any views on how pizzas are cooked and are they similar to a wood fire oven pizza on the weber q? Would they cook better in the weber q or the companion pizza oven? What size pizzas could you cook in a weber and could u cook multiple pizzas in there for when entertaining? And what size is best to get that would compare with the size of a 3 or 4 burner bbq.

I have had a Webber Q since they first came on the market for base camp then got a Baby Q for the playground.
Now I don't have base camp or the big Q but my Baby Q gets used most days. Anything you can cook in a house/caravan oven can be cooked in the Q plus they do the best ever steak to perfection. I have a full size oven in my van for, just in case.
I was a person that judge a place on how they cooked the steak but since I got the Q I can cook it the way I like it, over a flame and don't get a steak when eating out very often now.
I was told in the beginning to not clean it all the time just leave it after cooking and just wipe it over before each use. Only clean the inside of the lid once a year and again maybe just wipe it over now and then as that is part of the flavour process. The secret is to cook with the lid DOWN. The Q also does a mean pizza too. I also do a casserole in a open dish with Q lid down, stir the stew every 30 mins and it tastes as good as a camp oven stew. All works for me.

My BabyQ was looking a bit sad outside with some scratches & scrapes from much travel in the ute tub so I gave it a facelift. Engine heatproof paint from Supercheap and she looks like new again.
Of course the job was done just prior to Bathurst v8 race day it is no coincidence that the colour is Ford Blue!

can anyone tell me if they know much about the Ziegler and brown bbq in comparison to weber?
when I enquired at a shop recently they suggested the Ziegler and brown would perform better. Any comments?
also wondering about what sizes most people use in the weber q range. I hav a 3-4 burner at home so not sure what size to get in the weber q and interested in cooking at least a couple of good size pizzas at one time or a large pizza.
I have just bought a Magic Cooking Sheet for my Baby Q. Can someone confirm or not that it is ok to use it over the grill (as well as the plate)? The instructions say 'don't use over an open flame' and I wondered if that means it shouldn't be used with the grill. Thanks.
And assuming over the grill is ok, should I cut it a bit smaller than the grills so the air can circulate better?

Love my Q too and it always travels with us in the back of the navara.
I saw some bbq grill mats on sale at bummings the other day so looks like I am going back there tamorra and get me one(might get 2 while they are on special).

We almost always cook outside when away in the van and I run mine off the spare cylinder on the drawbar. I have a 5m hose and reg for it so I can connect it to any gas cylinder.

Another question, about pizzas. I bought a Woolies store-made pizza and was going to try cooking it on the Baby Q pizza stone. Unfortunately the Woolies pizza is 28 cm in diameter and the stone and pizza tray are only 26 cm in diameter. The instructions clearly state that the pizza tray (and presumably pizza) must not overhang the stone as they will get excessively hot (and presumably burnt).
So, it is an absolute no-no that the pizza and pizza tray must not be larger than stone? If if it is a no-no, might there be another stone/tray that is 28 cm in diameter that I could purchase?
The pizza by itself fits into the Baby Q.
While I'm on the topic of pizzas, since the Woolies pizza already has a baked base, is it still necessary to cook the pizza for 18-20 minutes? I cook those pizzas for 10-12 minutes in the oven at 200 degrees C.
KFT thanks I looked at facebook group. can you join not having a weber q? as im looking to get one in future..wish list. so want to get on there for inspiration and to help in my decision abt buying a weber q based on information available, recipes etc to see how much id use it.

2 years on still problematic. Will not get above about 160c in any sort of breeze. Struggles to to achieve 220c any time. Today going ok with some pork. About 220c suddenly down to 150c and still on high. Bottle half full

Have to agree with you on this Oldbloke, have had a Baby Q for about 5 years, works a treat in calm conditions, any sort of wind/breeze and the temp fluctuates wildly, I've made up a wind guard for ours, big improvement.
