Technomad at Caravan and Camping Show, Adelaide.

Had a great time on the Vic Parks stand for the past 2 days and enjoyed the opportunity to meet many newcomers looking to upgrade or purchase their mode of accommodation to begin their travels. It was good to hear the enthusiasm at a time when things are tough out there but realise for many of them time can not afford to delay the start of the dream. I had a chance to promote not only Victoria and the the wonderful oportunities but also my views around issues and methods to get the best bang for ther buck when travelling. Looking at both sides of the fence I was amased at their appreciation and gave them another point of view to consider.

Sorry I did not get to meet Andrea or Peter yesterday or today but hope to catch up one day maybe.

Bye, Graham.

Waste of time advertising Victoria it is the worst place in Australia to caravan or camp there are much better areas of Australia to visit with much nicer people never again not a patch on Tasmania to visit

Very interesting comment and accepted, but being a South Australian can not agree, but life is full of opinions and we cant all be right. Enjoy travelling, good luck.

Graham.

Victoria is a great place, plenty of free camps and CPs, not worth saying anymore

Hope you meet some nice people , not from Victoria, enjoy your travels

Hi, this is the Sue part of Russue.  smile Well I guess I must be different. I'm a Toowoomba born, bred and educated. My home town; I am now living in Victoria. Perhaps you might have missed some of the truly lovely parts of Victoria, there are some beauties. Hope you get a chance to see them, and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm shocked by that statement signwilson. I travelled over a lot of Victoria over the summer with no problems and met some lovely people. Had no problems finding good spots to park.

We're currently in Portland Vic ... caravan park not real cheap, but real nice. Nice people too. We have extended our stay as we have enjoyed this area and its community very much.
Having travelled the GOR to arrive here, gotta say its just the most beautiful coastal scenery all the way, and we've loved it! Yes, have been here before, and yes, hopefully we'll be back!
Heading into SA next...

Signwilson responded very politely and I find borders don't change people, unless football is involved. On the Vic Parks stand telling couples I was SA and stirred about barracking for the Crows created many laughs and then an avenue to discuss my ideas regarding cheaper ways to look to save funds while travelling.

We loved managing parks and will always try to assist the elderly in particular to avoid the prime spots at prime times and attack areas like the Great Ocean Road and Lakes Entrance at off peak times to afford the opportunity and enjoy in particular those 2 areas.

Many inland parks, well deserving of their patronage are some times viable to use as a base and drive in without the van .

The Great Ocean Road eg, leave the van in Geelong or Torquay. Car only to Lorne. Take van to say Colac, again by car to Appollo Bay, left and right and then tow the van to Warnambool and see the rest.

You may say free camps are better but like myself, not everybody agrees but a lower price with a very good standard of park are around if you do your homework. I find Google Images very helpful when trying to see images of parks and even the low cost ways At show grounds and national parks.

Hi Gerty, Pat is doing well and nearly out of the woods we hope. Back in Adelaide now and unfortunately will not work again. Stem cell treatment nearly finished, going to sell our big van, get a small rear door and hopefully travel around soon.

Can not elaborate but it has been a tough time but it will get better. Hope you two are well and enjoy.

Graham.

Different attack on the GOR from ours Grahame... we stayed a few nights at Wye River, saw the Eastern beaches and Otways, then one night at Princetown at their "Recreation Reserve" ... had a walk down to the local wetlands and beach but the weather turned nasty. We drove to Portland next, stopping many times along the way for cuppa/lunch etc, to see the scenery, visit Warrnambool's Maritime museum, but it rained, the wind was strong and cold, found sanctuary late in the day @ Portland. Love it!

Edit... hadn't seen your post. Pm sent.
