CGear Multimat

Hello all,

We just collected the CGear Multimat purchased from Autoelec Bairnsdale. A friend has this one with his van and used it on the beach in SA and said it is very tough. We would be interested in knowing if anyone has experience with it.

Cheers,

Gary

bought one from Bairnsdale too - brilliant - we had tried a poly tarp, foam mats that push together as well as shademesh - no comparison , you won't be sorry. The red Pilbara dust just disappeared through it.

Yup, we like ours too. Just take care if it gets wet in the rain as we found it a little slippery.

What size Cgear mat would I need to buy for a 15' Dometic roll out awing. Do you get it slightly bigger e.g. 17' x 8' or smaller 14' x 8'. I also assume the roll out awnings are 8' wide not 12' as I noticed there are some Cgear mats with a 12' width.

Given the price of CGear mats, I'd go for the smaller size Johnty

Thanks for all your feedback, that makes us very happy. We are looking forward to using it now. ...next thing we need is a new awning. Oooo quite expensive but can't do without it.

Some questions.....does the Cgear mat have adequate eyelets to peg it down and can you sit annexe poles directly on it or do you need a "foot" to stop the pole punching through.?
Also does it tend to curl up at the edges in cold weather.
Thanks

good strong sewn in eyelets but you would need to keep the mat inside the parameter of the awning so you can peg the awning legs down if you have it off the van - same goes for an annex or shade walls. So Jonty - go for the slightly smaller mat

We used ours over New Year and it was great, only needed to sweep the odd leaf and twig away. Trying the red dirt at Lightning Ridge in April. Now thinking of investing in a shadecloth to attach to the awning. Any ideas on the best brand to buy?

We have had a CGear mat for 4 years now and recommend it. It does get a little slippy when wet but great for sandy spots. You can also put pegs through it and it does not fray round the holes.

We're looking forward to using our new mat over the next month (or two) when we head up north. Might give it a bit of a small test just for a weekend in a fortnight while the weather is still warm in Vic though.

Have ours out now, and the awning is rolled in because of the strong winds. The ground is grey sand, not much grass, but the CGear mat makes it nice to walk on. If you spill anything on it, just a quick wipe with a wet mop or cloth fixes it. Dirt will stick to spots where you have had spills.

Bought one a couple of weeks ago and been in constant use since, very happy so far & trust it handles the red/brown dirt as indicated when we get there.....ohh good price too even if not "on line".
