Copper1 & 2 make St Mary's Tasmainia Great Free Camp

Great free camp at St Mary's Tasmania

Hi all just a quick update of our travels. We are currently free camping at the Recreation Ground at St Mary's. This is a great spot nice open area for the biggest of rigs included is a nice new toilet and shower block. Showers, are a $2 for three minutes there is also free water available and a dump point see camps 6 #35. Also watched a great local match of cricket on the oval and even got to sit in the pavillion up nice and high and out of the wind. It was all glassed in thought I was at Lords watching the cricket he he, except for the not so green wicket and outfield but it was very enjoyable just the same. Tomorrow we plan to head to St Helen's to check out the place, including the bay of Fires and Cosy corner south before dragging the vans all the way up there.

Take Care everyone

Rox n Gaz

Those toilets are way too posh to ever make publication in one of those Aussie outdoor dunny books, Copper. But it sure sounds like you're having a whale of a time in Tassie. Lucky you!

If you want a real experience and are going across towards Campbell town drop your van off at Fingal and take a drive up through Rossarden. Don't be to quick to get out of your car though.
It is an old mining town, when the mine closed the houses were sold to people on the Housing Commission waiting list for $1.00
I worked there as a kid but now days emergency services wont even go there after 6pm at night.
Great drive in the mountains tho, sort of Australia's version of Deliverance.

Squeal like a wombat biggrin

Good to hear from you C1&2. I hope C4&5 are well?

Sounds like you are enjoying your time in Tassie for sure. I like the security gates and check point leading into your camp area too.

Hi Gary,,

when you are on your way to bay of fires out of St Helens  pick up some oysters in the shell straight off the racks. $8 in the shell,

pick of the free camps at bay of fires is cosy corner north IMHO

enjoy the trip down the pass, you've done Queenstown to Derwent park, all else is a breeze.
