$40000 for a part time job plus accommodation..
No wonder councils are struggling to make ends meet if they pay part time workers that much..
Seemed pretty high to me too Bob, perhaps they added the value of the 2BRM unit into that amount, it did say up to, I suppose that depended on what duties you did. It is a mining town so they might have trouble getting locals to fill the position, working at the mines is probably more lucrative.
Edit: Just checked to see if it had been put on GN Help Wanted as I had suggested to them, here is more info here;
Council is seeking applications from confident, self-motivated couples that possess well developed Customer Service skills.
Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government Officers Interim Award 2011 with remuneration within the prescribed salary range and paid pro rata to hours worked.

A two bedroom unfurnished cottage is provided as the employees will be expected to reside onsite. Power and water costs will be covered by Council.
The successful applicants will each be required to undertake, at Councils expense, a medical examination and provide a Federal Police check. Appointments to the position will not be confirmed until these requirements have been completed and assessed as satisfactory.
