hi first i am new to this and this is my first question i have just bought a 2004 regent cruiser with a shower and toilet it has a switch on the wall near the 240volt circuit breaker that is marked day / off / night does any body know it's purpose regards kevin
Welcome Kevin. I've got a mystery switch too.
Mines on the outside wall of the kitchen sink. Has no words but has a red light beside it which isn't on although the switch is on.
Hope you get your mystery sorted soon.
we have a regent 2005 and there is a black switch under the 12v&240v circuit breakers inside the van. The black switch is used to isolate the van battery, so your lights work off the vehicle battery at night. I.e. You would switch it to off to operate from car battery.
if it doesn't work ring 0394087400 and speak to George at Regent in Melbourne. He was of great assistance when I was wiring 12v plugs for the van fridge.

Thanks Kevin. Will check that out next time I'm plugged into power.. Never even thought of that possibility.. It's in the right place to be something like that.
Kevin i have an older 17feet Compass it also has a switch which was mysterious until i discovered that it was the safety cut off for the power to my cooktop and rangehood. I had an occasion to mess with it and found that it turned off the piower to the range hood. This switch is common in house kitchen wiring in Tassie, but i wasn't aware of its use in caravans.

Is it possibly a changeover switch from car battery power to van battery/power supply?

I am beginning another thread with an apology just in case this is read in any way as offensive ... but only trying to provide some balance - sorry if you think you are upset.
Given the above Brian and Baz, I believe Kevin did note the advice and indeed did thank posters for their advice. He then seems to have responded to the advice given ... perhaps he should have included a thanks to Brian and wanna-go2 BY NAME ... although he did end his 'successful' post with "THANKS for your input".
What more do you want from a member? I do realise that many rarely acknowledge the advice when the problem has been solved, but surely we don't need to point it out so bluntly.
Again, not meaning to be offensive, just I read the following of advice and the thanks given differently to others.

That's not how I saw the response John. It was posted as if it was a revelation that that was what the switch did. Had the replies been read and interpretted in the first place, then the test with the car connected would have been an obvious next step. Then to have someone else say "gee never thought of that", makes me wonder why we post an answer at all. That's my rant over with, feel much calmer now. Lol

For some of us who do hours of research for some subjects it is not about recognition ( asimple tahnks all is good) but solving the problem, then we move to the next "problem". Again apologies,, I'm easy to get on with ???? I think????
