Help...where should we stay in the Blue Mountain?

we're going to Blue Mountains next weekend for 5 days and would love to hear your recommendations on where to stay.

we'd aiming to do the usual walks and sight seeing. We're seeing friends in Katoomba one evening so an easy drive to there is preferable. 

Any suggestions?

There is a fairly good caravan park at Katoomba. Had a look at it a couple of weeks ago with intentions of having a few nights there in the near future. Don't know the prices as that's not an issue for us when we are just having a few days there and then heading back home to Sydney. It's just near Scenic World and in the middle of all the touristy things

Lived in the Blue Mountains for close to 20 years and i don't think you will find better than the one PamBaz have mentioned
