We are a couple of weeks away from being homeless and wandering nomads. We are putting in a CB radio to help us on our way But I know very little about it. What channels are best what protocls are out there, any advice will be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance Bruce & Jenny
If you sit on 18 you will hear very little, we monitor ch40, the language can be pretty colourful but you get lots of helpful info and can communicate with truckies, they're a very helpful lot if you talk to them, particularly if your driving a slower moving vehicle.
Hi, If you are installing the unit yourself beware that coax cable (the cable to the antenna) does not like sharp bends or being poked through sharp holes (eg firewalls etc, use a rubber grommet). You can just about destroy any signal strength if the bends arent smooth, good rule of thumb is 8 times the diameter of the cable. Sounds weird but its true. Make sure the 12V side is fused and enjoy your travels.
