Where to stay in Lakes Entrance?

Looking to stay in Lakes Entrance for 2 nights in April (not Easter).  Want somewhere that is walking distance to shops, dining etc. Had a look on the net and there are so many different options, just wondering if we could get some feedback on the best place to stay.  Just the two of us.  thanks in advance!

Beautiful place, chose wherever is convenient. We prefer to stay at Bruthen in the CP there. About 20 minutes north of Bairnsdale. Lovely place, good pub & counter meals, great old fashioned bakery, servo, etc. Real close to Buchan Caves, a lovely drive through the Haunted Forest if you have a 4WD. Ask at the servo for directions.

Last time we went there we just rocked up and drove around till we found a place we liked. Turned out to be on the Nth Arm opposite the boat rental.

We recently stayed one night at Echo Beach C/P... didn't like it, very close-packed. Two other caravan parks we called were full, as people were evacuated or just avoiding the fires.

North Arm CVP is my preference when in lakes. Small but nice and close to what you ask for.
