In the heat wave the other week in Victoria, we survived in the pop top by wetting the dogs, letting the lie on wet towels and using a squirt bottle to vaporise the environment. Luckily we had power and a fan, but let me tell you it was no fun!
Of course the dogs had cool water laid on, and we found a rellie with air con who let us crash inside in the cool when the heat continued day after day.
Wish I had thought of frozen chicken, although the heat took their appetites.

I have just returned to Victoria for a few more weeks from a round trip to Tamworth Country Music Bash, it was hot hot hot. Kept the boys cool with their cool mats (you soak them well and truly then squeeze out the excess water and they can lay on them or they can have them over them with the 12 vlt fan blowing on them....sort of a coolgardie safe effect!
Now I want one for me! Driving was very hot indeed.

Each morning whilst up there I de=camped from the riverside camping area (leaving signs that the site was not vacant) and parked down by the footbridge under some big trees where I had shade all day, the river to sit in and all my windows left wide open (the security screens I installed came into their own), that way I got to do short trips to the shop for food or to listen to a busker or whatever!

We give our two labbies beef and chicken stock icey poles and frozen pigs trotters. They love them.

When we had our French Bulldogs, we had to be careful in summer. Because they have a pushed in snout they tend to overheat very quickly in hot weather. We used to have mats similar to these www.k9softdogcrates.com.au/index.php

We ordered one of the Pet Polar Pads to keep our dog Geordie cool when we go on our trip in May. Waiting for it to arrive, should be here today.
