AM I LOOSING THE PLOT COMPLETELY

A friends & foes option like some other forums have would be a solution.

This way you can choose not to see posts (if you can call them that) from those nominated as foes.

who decides who will be friends or foe's, never seen a forum like that

Each member can elect to add foes if they choose.

ok, so if I add somebody as a foe, will I not be able to open a topic by that person or will it block all posts by that person in any topic?

not that I have any foes on GN but just wanted to know how it worked.

The issue with that is everyone would add Wombat as a foe, the poor guy would be sitting here on the computer playing with himself, no friends at all.

Oh wait, he already does that.

I believe it blocks all posts by the nominated person.

I say believe as I have never had the need to use the option on other forums but sadly if it was available on this forum it would get used.

So that would mean you would block yourself from some topics, I don't think that's a good idea, but others may have another opinion, each to their own, would be a strange world if everybody thought the same.

As an example if I added you to my foes list I wouldn't see any of the posts that you make.

They have an ignore button on ebays Community Spirit Forum..
You can ignore a poster which stops you from seeing their posts
I'm not sure it is a good idea.
I think that trolls get their kicks from peoples reaction and if they get no reaction they go looking for someone else to annoy and thats why you have mods to pick up these trolls..
As forums get bigger they need more moderation, the trouble with giving others moderating authority is that just becoz a particular poster rubs Joe up the wrong way it doesn't mean that he/she rubs everyone up the wrong way and when personalities come into it the wrong poster can often be given the holiday..
To date I think this forum is going good and I really do like it when discussions are allowed to reach a conclusion..

And after all is there is always the BACK ARROW up the top...lol

Hopefully I can sit by your campfire, but it is true. When there is this many people there is no way everyone will get along or like one another.

Just some have more difficulty finding people that like them than others, but we do feel sorry for him. No names mentioned but he eats, roots & leaves, or now because of his age eats & leaves.

One of the major RV forums have that option Wombat, can't say which one here as it is against forum rules to quote another forum.

I defended Bridgets right to make a posting..hers was not a joke..it was a 'calendar saying'...she obviously thought it had merit and don't we encourage all to make contributions...
You, Vic decided it had to be a joke and she should be removed from the General Forum....I still uphold her right to make posts like everyone...you took umbridge to my statement and since then have vilified me as a Troll etc....my posts with substance stand on their own merits...I have had many ask me about gold activities whilst travelling whom I have willingly helped, however do not go on about it unlike you....I have advised on other subjects as well that are within my previous vocation etc....only the other members know who they are....and I do not expect you to consider anything but your bruised ego ...get over it....I've never been considered a Troll on other Forums in which I have participated over some 12 years....but then again they do not have a Vic with an unhealthy dose of ego/self righteousness.....get over it and lets move forward.....the vilifications have all been one sided and it does you no credit....heaven forbid if you are ever made a humour moderator..now do your worst once again.....Hoo Roo

I think the shoe's on the other foot, by the way if it wasn't a joke but a calendar saying then it should have been on I digress, not on General. I think you are the one that is being pig headed about the rules on here on where posts should be placed, simple really.

You just don't seem to get it, don't want to be accused of being a troll then don't act like one, you continually buck the forum rules which does you no credit at all. I didn't move Bridget's post, Cindy did, I don't have the power to do that. Bridget has left the forum by the way, her choice, all she had to do was comply with the forum rules like we all have to.

I think it is an option on Forums running phpbb software. Never had to use it on any forum but I could see a use for it here at times.

Regardless, I still reckon this is the best forum on RV travel on the internet. Have looked at quite a few, some moderated by a whole committee and still members are very nasty to each other. Mostly folks here are helpful and friendly, as Cindy intended.
