There's a very good reason why there are no jokes in the Bible, ya know. Can't have the priest giggling during a sermon. Nor the congregation for that matter. Sermons are about serious stuff. When was the last time someone told you to "have fun" as you headed off to church?

I was referring to humourous responses rather than reading a Friday jokes page per se...which I have never done and am not interested in....I was referring to humour in genuine posts.....I'm of Irish extraction and tend to see some humour when folk are getting their proverbial knickers in a knot....and I tend to post that way......
Vic, if you are referring to 'straight' Jokes as such then I tend to agree they go where folk expect to be titillated by jokes....however if your post is directed at humourous ways of making a point in a genuine post......then I will stand to be castigated by Cindy....with all due respect..please don't tell me and I'm sure others, to start sucking eggs at our stage of life and telling me to go elsewhere, when you sir, have missed my point, not t'other way round.....
I think Billeeeeee, is that enough 'E's, can be a breath of fresh air in some genuine general forum posts, especially when there has been considerable unwarranted heated farting over some subject that doesn't really warrant us taking a week off our collective limited lives seriously worrying about them....like whether the correct protocols are being carried out at some 'Happy Hours.....if someone is wearing out their welcome at a Happy Hour then I suggest someone should man/woman up and tell them so at the time..why piffle on about it over some 3 pages on here? ..but perhaps that's the Irish coming out in me again.....Hoo Roo

Yes I understand that Jules and that is why I agreed, however Jokes (not humour) were on the increase in General and bumping items about the lifestyle off the page, it is very frustrating and so easy to put the jokes where they belong. Unfortunately some newer members have not read the forum rules and just follow what everyone else is doing which makes it worse for the forum in general (pun intended).

My original post on this thread has been misinterpreted by some and the odd sarcastic reply by some of those doesn't do them any favours.

Unfortunately the webby does not always have to time to move posts to where they should be.

For those who seem to have trouble the difference between a suggestion and telling others "how to suck eggs" perhaps you would like to re-read the thread. I for one like to read posts that are important to me and others on General without Jokes (the thread says jokes, nothing about humour). As has been said, there is a section for Jokes but a few are ignoring this fact. There are some here that like to show their intelligence with sarcasm but as we all know that is the lowest form of wit, so they are not doing themselves any favours.

I put my suggestion as nicely as I could but apparently that is not good enough for some who have taken umbrage at it. I am glad there are many on this forum that see it from my perspective and I thank you for your support. For the others, well I will just have to say we will have to differ with our opinions.

I find it hard to comprehend that some individuals post when odviously under the influence of various sustances and post uninteligable stuff that is hard to understand at the best of times. Don,t get me wrong- I love a good joke, but am constantly saddened by the bickering and personal attacks that come with some posts. I have even got to the stage that I don,t even read some posts by these people.Its just more of the same.Sane discussions are to be encouraged.I know I will probably be vilified for saying this,but it has to be said. What worries about me most about this forum is that it is provided free by our benefactor Cindy and she is the rock the forum depends on.

All she asks in return is that we comply with her forum rules which some do not seem to want to do and ruin it for the other members. It seems such a simple thing to do in return and yet there are those who seek to do otherwise to the detriment of the forum in general.

God Forbid if something happens to Cindy healthwise or she decides enough is enough, there goes the forum. It is HER forum, not ours, and our use of the forum depends on her goodwill. If we can't abide by her simple rules for the forum then we don't deserve to be on it, it is not a big ask.

Cindy is also running a business and does not always have time to monitor the threads and posts on the forum so things stray off course and I believe we can all help the forum survive by all doing our bit to comply with the rules she has set in place to keep the forum running smoothly.

We owe our thanks to her for her generosity in providing such a great forum, I just hope she can continue to do so, sometimes she must wonder if it is worth it.
