We are hoping to sell up and start our Grey Nomad adventure later this year. One issue that we are concerned about is how we will receive any post that is sent to us. We expect this to be minimal as we always choose to receive communication by email where possible.
Any hints from current Grey Nomads would be much appreciated.
Hi K & A . It's not long since I was new to this forum, and I've found using the search icon and the extended search icon on the top toolbar, allows you to search previously discussed topics and provides a wealth of information.
We have taken a post office box and our daughter who has medical/financial and guardianship power of attorney, picks up mail, let's me know what's there and she is able to deal with anything that we haven't covered via direct debits, internet etc.
Hope that helps, but check out search, it's really useful
Hi K & A I am a great believer in a PO Box, do not like mail being delivered to my home address. (home mail delivery seems to be all advertising & junk mail). If you go travelling you can give a trusty your key & they can check your mail and let you know what is in it.. We were away for 6 months in 2012 and had our PO BOX mail redirected to our accountants office. A staff member who I have known for thirty years opened it, scanned anything important, then emailed it to us. These days it is mainly bills etc that come by mail, and most of these can be set up with direct debit so you do not have to worry about them. In SA I see now payment for registration of motor vehicles is going to be able to be paid by direct debit one month in advance. Cheers Daz
when on the road, we redirect our mail via Aust Post to one of our sons address and he then informs us of any urgencies, and then use the express post bags we leave with him to on forward to an agreed post office on our tour. Low cost and secure.
