Salt

Salt can be kept in the Fridge when the weather is Humid, as there is no moisture in cold air.

just a guess but when you take it out of the fridge the hot humid ambient air will condense and give you grief that way.

Could be I'm wrong, just a thought.

We knocked off a pile of individual salt sachets from Maccas once which worked well. No I mean we purchased them from Woolies.

As above, moisture will condense when the salt was removed from the fridge, but if you sprinkled it and immediately put it back in the fridge it should be OK?
Re the rice in the salt shaker - I was told the rice grains act to break up any clumps of salt that have stuck together due to high humidity when you shake the shaker.
I love salt and always carry some in the boot.
We had a friend from the bush (Hebel) who always carried a bottle of tomato sauce in her handbag - she was basically addicted to it.

my salt is always on the bench, I put a teaspoon full of rice in it, it never gets lumpy or refuses to flow,

Thats in my Home, Coach and Boat, and on the bike as well, On the bike it gets carried in a plastic bag,

I just get a few of those $2 salt (& pepper) grinders from the cheapie shops.  Usually have one in use & a spare of each.

Good idea to put a wrap of sticky tape around the screw top to stop it undoing when you are grinding.

Can be refilled if you want, but I usually just dump them when empty.

They have a clip on lid to prevent the ingress of moisture.
