There is a difference between uncontrolled dogs and well trained dogs on a leash.

You should never generalise and ban all dogs, when really its just some of them.

I support a ban on unleashed, untrained dogs who cause injury to others.

Lets be clear.

Depends who was there first... I don't see why those who don't want dogs in their face, have to move. If the dog owners keep their dogs under control...like on a lease at all times, that's fine. But not running around jumping up and crapping everywhere. But then I'd just return it to you ASAP if you don't clean it up.

I guess there is a few things to be learned from this thread..

1. Dog owners think their Pepe is a member of the family and should be accepted by all.

2. Non Dog owners think that dogs are dogs and should be treated as such.

3.Dog owners think that if you don't like their dog it is your problem.

4. Non dog owners really really do think that dogs should be treated as dogs and not members of the family..

My advice is if you have a dog treat it like a dog and train it to behave and don't expect others to accept it as a fellow traveler...

Look's Like I'm in Trouble..

My Little Itch Like to Bark at stranger's.. She is a good indicator if someone is around..

She does Like to lick and She always want some affection..
She will sit at my feet to keep me company and as she has always been in close company since she was a Pup she will go all sookie and then get excited when I come home NO matter the Weather..

She is the Boss..

So yes I think I spoil her to much..

I'm not having a go at anyone's little precious.... I was a cat and dog owner for many years. But just because precious is your sooky la la, doesn't mean we all feel the same way about precious. I understand they are your family and they and you love being in each other's company, and I think that great....for you.

But don't force precious onto others who don't want to be jumped all over, covered in mud, slobbered on or step out their caravans and tread on precious' crap...it's not fair. Just have a thought about others wherever you decide to take precious, and take responsibility for what precious does.

My dogs are scared of humans, they're rescues, don't lick or crave attention, don't bark, are happy to enjoy a walk without other dogs scaring the crap out of them. They're scared of cats, probably mice and other dogs generally.

I generally make a fuss of nice dogs if they want to be patted. I try to respect others and their animals.

It is interesting that dog owners have problems with OPDs (Other People's Dogs), because other people dogs are not trained in the same way, bark differently, react differently to strangers, or even may just be a different size.

The problem is that dog owners do not realise that other people see their dog(s) the same way, they fail to realise that there dog is an OPD to EVERYONE ELSE.

I'll be doing my happy hour without you too. I don't have dogs so as to ignore them or leave them behind. Unlike the occasional company provided by other travellers, my dogs are my CONSTANT companions, and deserving of my consideration in return.

One thing that doesn't seem to add up. Out in the playground I have rarely come across other campers who object to dogs, yet there seem to be an awful lot on this site. Are you all sitting at home whinging in anticipation? Whatever the reason, I'm very happy not to meet you out here smile

Some of us have the capabilities to be travelling and still be on this site. It's called the internet...lol

I have had dogs most of my life but wouldn't take one travelling with me as I like to explore the national parks.

I'm not fussed if people have their dogs with them, just don't expect me to be as happy to be with them as you are and don't bring them to my site :)

...well this thread has collectively changed all our thinking....not!......do the formal Happy Hours require ties and shoes.....I go weak at the knees when I see some folks bare feet with uncut toe nails going in all directions..and..and...can we start a whinge on that one too.....the person who started this thread has now started a number of recent whinge threads......is it a gift?..........let's be happy we have our health and our freedom and if someone has a misbehaving dog..tell them about it if and when it happens.......Pepe is mighty smart but I'm glad he cant read.....lets agree to disagree and continue to be happy/thankful for all the positives we do have......Hoo Roo

We know of a couple with 4 & they go everywhere. Naturally if there are any other quiet well behaved dogs that does not last long. Totally rude as far as we are concerned especially when they have a weldmesh fence for the dogs under the awning! No one enjoys the barking while trying to have a conversation across the camp fire circle.

How many grog fuelled domestics have kept you awake at nights in parks? Do you tell them to get counseling? If you see someone with a shovel and toilet paper walking into the bush at free camps do you tell them how deep to dig the hole? I think some of you would. Sick of this "bad dog/good dog debate, agree to disagree. Its the Season of Good Will but you'd never know it on here. If I'm in a layby first with my dog and you park near me, put up with me and my dog.....If you there before me, tell me you prefer no dogs near you and I'll gladly pull up stakes and move away......drink on my own if necessary.....don't just whine on and on about dogs and their owners. It gets tiresome.

I don't have a dog, but do like them. I don't have one because we live in units where they are not allowed.

I have had a number of dogs in the past, but don't know that if the circumstances were different I would have one now, except probably on a farm or large property. I have lost dogs to baits and also a fishing mishap, if anyone has seen a dog die from poisoning or snake bite they will know how horrible it is. The loss of a favourite pet is traumatic as any pet owner will vouch for and hard to get over.

I have enjoyed other peoples dogs at cp's etc, I firstly ask the owners if it is ok to pat their dog and whether it bites, if they say it is ok and the dog is wagging it's tail I assume the dog agrees and I give it a pat or chest rub. There are some beaut dogs out there and do agree that most are better than many humans. Some dogs though are the result of their human owners not giving a stuff about their behaviour, which is more the owners fault than the dogs. These people do not deserve to be dog owners.

Unfortunately the following message was displayed when I tried to open the link can anyone make it playable?
