Grassed, shady area in the town of Dartmoor of A1 highway. 40kms East of Mt Gambier and the Sth Australian Border.
Quiet, nice walks, pleasant little village. No Water or amenities, there are well maintained toilets a short walk into town. A small store for essentials, and a hotel. Not sure what the hotel is like, have not been there. Great spot to sit for a few days and explore the surrounding areas.
Still pretty much as stated by Sharon above. A very attractive area and well supported by the local community.
There are now long-drop toilets at the camp. There is no potable water at the camp, but it is available at the Public Hall in town.
There are no grey water limitations and no time limit on your stay. You can choose between an open camping area or in amongst the trees.
Fireplaces and picnic tables in the open camp area but fires in your own 'pit/choofer' are OK. Telstra internet/mobile was OK. Pets are allowed on leash.
There have been stairs constructed to give access to the Glenelg River, with a small wharf to launch canoe/kayak or to even swim from.
There is also another stairway to give access to a 'protected' children's beach with barricades to keep the kids from getting out too far.
OH and there are the wonderful wooden sculptures in the town. Definitely well worth the stop - AND to support the town.
