We are just home from a cruise to NZ (came in Saturday). It was great value for the money and we had a wonderful time. It was for 14 days and I don't think we will do any longer than that.
Everyone was friendly and we met some terrific people from all over the world. The staff on board were the best, couldn't do enough for us and whatever we wanted we got.
Terrible shock when we came home! had to make the bed! cook, clean bathroom! wash iron shop gee it is hard.
Would recommend at least one cruise in your lifetime.
I am with you glassies give me Oz and the outback anytime! still it's a wonderful holiday.
We have been on two cruises on the Sun Princess and love it. No one has to drive, the hardest discussion you have to make is what to eat and drink, a really relaxing holiday. No cooking cleaning or making the bed. My idea of a holiday. Going again next year can't wait
We did an Eastern Mediterranean cruise out of Civitavecchia with Costa 3 years ago.
Hope to go again soon.
Done a Princess Pacific cruise. Never again.
Costa was so much more professional and the service on board was exceptional.
Actually, Queensland businesses could learn a few things about hospitality & service from the Europeans!
Meanwhile we are enjoying being on the road full time.
I have done 6 or 7 cruises and agree, they are great...the last one was probably the best of all, it was on the 'Jewel of the Seas'
And was 14 nights leaving from Southhampton and cruising the Baltic in July. what a magical places are Stockholm, Copenhagen, St.Petersburgh (picture on my sign in name), etc....a real eye opener and the service on board was just unbelievable.

I am a bit of a cruise fanatic at the moment. We have spent 6 months of this year at sea. And I loved every minute of it. Already have 2 cruises booked for next year. Cheers Alice
oh my how could i not expect an answer like that from you of all people wombat, but i must say i did blush lol
yes the cruise was great, and i agree its hard to come back to ironing and cleaning, we had a ball dear old mum
did get plastered one of the nights and thank goodness had her youngest daughter who was an all nighter but
not a huge drinker ,kept an eye on her mum ,if she hadnt i dont think i would of made it back to my cabin that night as
i could not even read the numbers on the door, but let me tell you i felt wondeful started on top deck at like 4pm and
left the disco at 3am ,virtualy rolled back to my room and im serious i crawled to my bed from the cabin door because
i fell over laughing so much that i could not get back up,it seems like a long time ago now.
i would recommend everybody gives it a go , however i did find that people were rude, and i figured it out the people
that take cruises all the time are the ones that are rude, i could not fault our cabin steward and actually wanted to bring him
home for the money he made on the cruise all week i could of afforded to pay him to be my maid,i felt very sad for them as people
that had cruised all the time were rude to them never saying thank you.
i met some amazing people and now have them on my email,im glad i did it and yes i would do it again but i think seven days was
enough for me,unless there was something to look forward to that is amazing in front of those days ,7 was enough.
i blame the long island ice teas for the big night out , they were powerful and packed a punch i drank all afternoon and was fine
until i was told by my daughter to try the long island ice teas and that was the end of me, but my did i have a ball ,we gave our cabin steward
a card with cash in it and i handed him the money personaly and thanked him so much for what he did for us, we would leave our room come back
and it was spotless and we would trash that room leave it again and come back and it was all cleaned up ,i need a cabin steward lol.
but for anybody that has not done it ,do it ,nothing to complain about, oh one thing i did write to the ship and said to them that the disco starting at
11pm at night was a bit rediculous i was ready for bed most of those nights.
oh i reckon you wish ,those young girls are my daughters heidi and katie, apart from my friend shirley who is older
than me and single ? do i need to say anymore lol
and yes i do have mr glassies but i dont think i could go in make a mess of a room like we did and expect him to clean it up
3 or 4 times a day . :)

i have heard about dazren didnt know he was single though , shirley is moving to forster soon she works with the old people
is doing her certificate 4 at the moment at least that is what i think she calls it """
Great pictures Glassies. I used to travel to Vanuatu regularly in late 1970s as I was involved in looking at setting up Air Vanuatu. I liked it so much that I bought a house there. Then it was the New Hebrides and in 1980 became independent. After independence, things changed dramatically and I bailed out. But it was a great place and I loved it there. Great atmosphere and the French food....Wow !!

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
Years ago we played in a band on cruises out of Sydney, a real eye opener when you see it from the stage and not through a drunken stupor. Decided then they were not the types of cruises we wanted to go on. When we did decided to go on one we took a completely different approach, which meant our cruise lasted 13 months.
We booked passage on container ships for our major crossings and smaller freighters for regional sailing. We went from Sydney to Singapore, then to japan, across the Chile, San Francisco, down through the panama to New York, the great lakes and across to Europe. From there we did the rivers and canals of England and Europe on barges, sailed round the Mediterranean and then back down to Brazil and Argentina. From there to S.A. India, across to Hong Kong and back to Aus.
On many ships, we were the only passengers with less than 20 crew, on others there were up 10 passengers, we all had a great time, the food was brilliant and had free run of the ships, except in area's where there were dangers. Being ex navy and a current yachtie, spent lots of time on the bridge and stopped at places you wouldn't, or couldn't get to because of security problems, so we saw some really interesting and violent occurrences from the safety of the ship.
It was a fabulous journey and experience, only costing us just over $20000. All out food and grog was included and they had the best there was, we ate with the crew and even though there was a passenger lounge on most ships, we spent all our time with the crew, as did other passengers.
The hardest part was organising our first couple of ships, as we had to go through shipping agents. From then on it was easy, every captain we came across went out of their way to get us a berth for the next part of our journey. Our costs dropped as the deals were done between ships officers, so no agent fees.
