Australia Post forward mail, it's not that expensive.

We are getting most of our mail sent via email when we sell up and live in our van till 2015. The rest we will have forwarded to a mail box.

We've arranged for as many people as possible to contact us via email (a surprising number of businesses actually prefer that). For the remainder we have set up a PO box that we,ve had for a month or so with a re-direct from our home address. As mail arrives to our home address we contact the sender to see if we can arrange email, if not we get our address changed to the PO Box.

When we get on the road we're hoping that there's not too much mail to the PO Box and one of the kids will empty iy it weekly, scan the important bits and email it to us ... that'sd the theory anyway, we'll see if it works in practice next year :)

We organised our mail to be forwarded to our son via Aussie Post. He sorted what was important.

If we wanted to he would have put it all in an express bag to an address we would be at that week. Had no need to but the option was there.

All our bills are paid direct debit and a lot of business done by email. Our neighbour kept an eye on the letter box in case some mail slipped through which it didn't .

It worked for us.

We have used Poste Haste Australia for the last three years and will continue to use them. Have been 100% reliable and fast and at times we get a great deal of packages from over seas and costs us no more.

A slightly different situation but my base camp is in a village and all our mail goes to the office and is kept in there until we collect it. When I am in the playground as I have been most of this year I ring the office on a Friday afternoon, they check for my mail and send it to a post office I have selected that I know I will be near for a week later.

Most of my bills are direct debit or BPay so that's covered and I get any mail from Centrelink via my on-line account so that's all covered as well.

I have never had a problem so far and works really well and no cost to me or the office as they just redirect the mail. As I said works for me.

Our mail goes to a daughter's place. I phone her often & she tells me what has arrived, opening some if asked so I can check what they are, throwing away ones I say I don't want. . When there are a few things that I require she puts them in an overnight bag & sends to nominated PO. Works for us & daughter doesn't charge!!

I've found on several occasions in two different places the Australia Post will hold or redirect mail, but they miss a few! You need to have a neighbour or relative who will check your letter-box occasionally.

When having mail redirected by a friend/house-sitter/family member, we have found it better to have it sent "C/O PO in whatever town you are at. If you have it sent to the caravan park where you are staying, and it doesn't arrive before you have to leave, then you are depending on the goodwill of the staff at the caravan park to send it on. They can be very busy in "the season", but the Post Office will send it on if you phone them with a forwarding address.

Ditto for us. My sister's address is my "home address" used for my drivers licence as well. Of the small amount of mail she receives, she emails me on receipt, and we decide whether or not I need it immediately. If there are bills, she emails with bpay details. Once a month or 6weeks, she sends mail by express post. I keep her supplied with envelopes for that purpose. Cost me about $50.00 per year

Thank you to everyone who has responded, we have a friend redirecting, but we are on the road full time, and we don't know where we are going to be half of the time, so it is getting hard to organise it. Will look into a couple of your responses, thank you again, wandwill

wandwill, we have our daughter collect our mail, she takes it to work, scans it and emails it to us every day, we then deal with it as if we collected the mail ourselves. Hope this helps, you may have a family member who would be able to do this. We too are on the road permanently
