Visit To WA Mining Towns Marvel Loch and Copperhead Mine Town of Bullfinch - Near Southern Cross WA

During a recent visit to this area (travelled to Marvel Lock on a gravel road approx 200 kms north of Hyden/Wave Rock) I visited the town of Marvel Loch approx 30 kms south of Southern Cross in WA which is currently owned by the Chinese and is in care and maintenance mode (not currently working). The link below shows the old owners but has some info on the mine, another mine also owned by the Chinese not far from there is currently under exploration;

You're a mine of information, Vic. Looks like an interesting place with a fascinating history. I love that kinda stuff. I like pubs too hehe.

Duh good morning

Thankyou, enjoyed the photos and have now have added these places to our list.

The time I stopped at Southern Cross there was not much life in Southern Cross. The truck had fuel problem, very cold early morning playing with desiel on the side of the road. Cheers

There are some locals still living in both towns, and the Marvel Loch PO/Store is still operating but like Bullfinch the pub is closed.

That big rock outside Marvel Loch Hotel still has traces of gold in it. Wouldn't fit in the back of my car though, lol !

PS: If you are filling up on the Great Eastern Highway west of Southern Cross, the Tammin servo has petrol about 10cents a litre cheaper than the other towns along the way, didn't check the diesel prices though. Also very popular with motorists, truckies and bikies because of their low prices and great facilities and food.

I only got back yesterday, weather gods were kind to me, but had to come home early due to an injured leg (don't ask).....

PS: I seem to have lost the ability to make my links clickable, so if anyone still can please do.

Thanks for the replies folks, I've wanted to visit these areas for years, so now knocked it on the head, other than a tour of the mines themselves.

Thanks for the clickable link Neil, works ok for me now.
